I fully expect us to be out bid on Fielder and Watts. Not sure we have the funding needed to get top dudes. The longer it goes without a prediction or word leads me to think this way. Holds up to historical rumors of guys we had.

Mikey Lewis from St Mary’s looks to be committed. Decent guard, scrappy kid. They still need a real PG. If I have to watch another season with Sprinkle lamenting their lack of PG play like he did in 2024 I’ll shoot myself. Watts would be a great pickup but the further we get from his visit the worse the odds look for UW.
Mikey Lewis is damned good. If Sprinkle beats out Randy Bennett it would be a win

Who’s to blame for the culture problem? It’s lasted through two coaches, from Stewart being given Timmens number to a player, Quade not being check on for class attendance, players walking back from games by themselves (can’t remember) to now rumors of discontent and disorganization. Sprinkle didn’t have these problems at USU or MSU. Jerry Hobbie and Gary Sumers the super donor are joined at the hip through Larry Brown. They’ve been a part of the program for 9 years now. Is that just a coincidence that many of these culture problems exist since they came on? Players aren’t choosing UW for the system and culture they are for the paycheck.. I’d rather have a scrappy team of kids not worried about a bag. Just some early morning thoughts
I ask myself that question all the time. Deep seated culture problems seem to be running rampant. No matter the talent that walks through the door Romar, Hopkins and Sprinkle can’t seem to get it cohesive. The only group that worked in the last 15 years was the local Romar leftovers, paired with Nowell who was a gifted college scorer, coached by Hopkins. You may be right, everyone before that and after that was looking for a bag. That is the case at most successful programs though. Hopkins became a head coach at the wrong time. His zone was at the end of its life span with the Steph Curry generation on the horizon. It’s no coincidence that Hopkins and Beohiem both slid in success at the same time. Sprinkle won everywhere he’d been, true, but his metrics in both offense and defense were always middle of the country. Somewhere between 90 and 150 nationally. I feel you’ve got to hang your hat on something. A great offense or a great defense. You can’t be mid at both and expect to succeed in a power conference. I think Chum should drop a level and find a coach with a great track record of success, a guy with a tried and true system. I’m pretty sure Sprinkle ain’t that guy as much as I wanted him to be.

Agree. Great dude, but overall low Basketball IQ. Going for blocks often put him out of position and a lot of senseless fouls.
Addition by subtraction. There are tons of bigs with limited skill, but they can catch the ball, finish, and you aren’t expecting a turnover if they have the ball at the top of the key.
Franck is a poor man’s Aziz and Aziz had many of the same tendencies.

Briedenbach was the dork frim Nebraska, he transferred to Grand Canyon and sucked there too.

If he wants to go to the NBA, Zoom fucked up. Few would have made him into a player. He'd have had to share the point for at least a year with Saint-Supery. But hate them all you want, GU develops NBA guys.
Or maybe Gonzaga was just Zooming Zoom and didn't offer him.
He was a shell of his former self by season end. Few buried him on the bench.
He can stroke it. But he’ll need to recover a step in quickness to compete in the B1G on both ends of the court.
I assume with the money earmarked for Zoom free the dominoes will start falling for UW pretty quickly.
What do you know about Braeden Smith? Guess he was visiting too. Didn’t UW kick the tires on him last year? Zag bench players as UW starters isn’t ideal but Sprinkle better take whatever he can get. He’s not got a great product to sell to prospective recruits nor huge bags of cash, just playing time. I remember the season Hopkins brought all the local guys back. I Think they went 17-15 or 15-17. UW would be lucky to hit a record like that as things are currently trending. I’m here for it though! Kill me.
Actually listened to the Adam Morrison podcast yesterday. He said Smith was a good soldier as his minutes shrank (few likes bigger point guards and Saint Supery earned more minutes).
Smith is kind of like Ryan Nembhard. A smaller PG but makes good decisions. Not a great shooter but capable. He wasn’t cringy by any means. Would be a good get. Wont be a star. Solid contributor.
