If its cold enough that you need a jacket or fleece then you shouldn't be wearing shorts.

You've never gone out in shirts on a cold morning where you know it'll get nice and warm after a bit? I'd rather look like a tool in jacket and shirts for an hour or two in the morning than needlessly wear pants on a sunny day.

This is an important debate. Let's jack this thread

The souwf agrees. 30 degree swings in a day warrant shorts, flip flops, and zip up hoodie. Then unzip and roll the sleeves during the afternoon as temp increases and then take sleeves down and put hood back on for the afternoon hurricane.

No, I don't wear shorts unless I am doing an athletic activity.

I recognize not everyone will agree with that but everyone should go to a t-shirt way before they go to shorts. Comfortable pants + nice t-shirt = acceptable in most contexts.

Also it was like 65 and partly cloudy in Seattle today. Does that qualify under your hypothetical?

No, just no.

Flip flops are not acceptable for adults anywhere except the beach.

That's shorts weather. I rarely wear pants from April through October.

Comfort is a relative term when it comes to pants. Some are more comfortable than others, but there's no such thing as comfortable pants when shorts are an option. I'm fortunate in that they're almost always an option.

I don't wear flip flops as they're not supportive or sturdy enough on the feet for the things I do. I allow myself one new pair of the basic Crocs (for lounging about the house/yard or a quick run to the store) and one new pair of soakable sandals (for basically everything else) every year. My feet get pretty hammered and torn up but I consider it an acceptable tradeoff for the comfort.

Your opinion is invalid.

You sound old and fat. Other possibility is gay (fashion snobbery).

I would agree with flip flops only acceptable at the beach but this is the souwf. It’s the dirty and dirty and is the only place flippy floppies are ALWAYS accepted. Even with the Uber fashion gays, it’s acceptable.

Wearing crocs is like getting blown by a dude. You look down and realize you’re gay.
