It's worth mentioning that in the apple cup preview show last year, Petersen specifically said he was 'slipping' or using a word to imply that he was just simply not as good of a coach anymore and wasn't going to be happy to continue to win 7/8 games. Burnout is probably a hug contributor to that, but he never explicitly said he was tired of coaching or UW or anything. He was simply not as good at his job and had the ability to step away which most people don't, is what I took from that interview.

After Rick took them to the cleaners in court, UW upper campus got gun shy, and have been ever since, when it comes to paying coaches top dollar. I think it's due to multiple factors, but IMHO one of the major reasons is because the university/city/community has become increasingly more PC. TITTT.

Back in the 1980s UW had a season ticket waiting list of something like 5,000, even with the Seahawks being all the rage regionally. In the 1990s, more than one media person called the UW and its fan base a Pac-10 school with an SEC fanbase. Its possible we've gone too soft and PC, but we do have a history

As much as I'd love to dunk on the Oregon Rose Bowl thing - they won at Ohio State with a young CJ Stroud at QB and went toe to toe last year in their home stadium and found a way to win. We jumped directly to the GREATEST DEFENSIVE OFF ALL TIME line which 75% of the time when I feel like we do that after a loss like that said defense goes out and gives up 38 to Minnesota.
