The public health stuff
- He declared "there's no vaccine that is safe and effective" — while claiming he's "never been anti-vaxx."
- He suggested HIV didn't cause AIDS and that it was partly caused by gay men using poppers.
- He claimed human-made chemicals in the environment were making children gay and causing "gender confusion."
- He promoted the idea that antidepressants cause school shootings.
- He pushed fluoride conspiracy theories, claiming it causes bone cancer, IQ loss, and thyroid disease.
- His anti-vaccine advocacy was linked to a 2019 measles outbreak in Samoa that killed scores of children.
The personal behavior
- Dumped a dead bear cub in Central Park.
- Decapitated a dead whale and took the head home.
- Kept a sex diary of extramarital affairs during his second marriage.
- Allegedly sexually assaulted a babysitter.

The list goes on. And this was all before he became a destructive force at DHS.

Environmental law (1980s–2010s)
• Co-founded Waterkeeper Alliance in 1999, which grew into the world’s largest nonprofit devoted to clean water, with more than 1 million volunteers and branches in 40 countries 
• Led the legal fight to restore the Hudson River as an attorney for Riverkeeper
