I drink about 1-2 per month anymore, so I probably shouldn't get a vote. The truth is that when I feel like a beer, just about anything will do.

Lager. I do like darker ales and stouts but only occasionally. But I'll drink a Czech Pilsner all day everyday

Jeremiah Johnson makes a killer vanilla porter.

Don't get me wrong, I love ales, but I can't imagine a summertime with out lager. I just doesn't work.
And I drink a lot more bourbon than the ale snobs here so I can always go that route when something darker and stronger is needed.

I burned out on the “faggy” IPAs, and now lean either bourbon or tequila. Had a Bodi a couple weeks ago and was, “Now I remember why I drank this”…my taste buds had been rehabbed. Agree, hot weather = lager…

Sours, lambics, pale ales, and lighter Belgians are all excellent in the summer and are often 5% or lower abv.
Waaaaaay more variety on the ale side of things.

Australia has way better variety of sub 5% pale ale than the US. Truly fantastic stuff at like 4.5% give or take. Even then, if I'm on 6 to 10 session beers type of Saturday, I'd still rather have Coors Banquet or Pacifico/Modello. Or the finest German or Czech Pils.

Rainier has been my go to for a long time, lately I usually start off w/ a couple Modelo Cheladas. If I'm feeling fancy I'll grab some Georgetown Roger's Pils or Sapporo.
I think I drank too much IPA for several years cuz I got way burned out on it. My gut just can't handle drinking those all day and night anymore. I'll grab some Pale Ale every now and again though.

I dig a nice stout in the rainy season as well.

I make a fucking killer michelada from scratch.
Modello
lime juice
Clamato
Dimitri's Bloody Mary Seasoing
Tapatillo Hot Sauce

Good chit. I need to try that one. I have yet to replicate the Modelo formula, but whatever they put in there is magical. Especially when you're hungover and need to get back on track.

Pale Lagers! I used to have beer parties as a kid and since I had worked at a tavern that featured beers of the world I had fun wit the blind taste test we always had with 12 beers from around the world + the local beers to challenge peoples perceptions of what their “favorite beer” actually was.
The idea was to announce to the crowd what the tester’s favorite beer(s) were and then listen to hear what they actually thought as they blind tasted ~ often describing their fav beer as rainwater / cow piss to the delight of the crowd.
Hands down the consistent winners were Canadian and Mexican Pale Lagers… biggest losers were the Euro Pilsners and wacko warm ale’s

If a silver bullet is a lager then it’s a no brainer. I’m on 17 right now

If I have to worry about the diabeetus and overall health then Lagers.
If I don't, then Ales.
Reality wins

I died last Saturday night from dinking too many fucking 7% IPAs. FML.
I would have been fine drinking 5% lagers.
