Also high school basketball coaches just posting a list on their door to see who made the team. I always felt somewhat bad for those cut but most weren’t very good players and our high school had 2200 students so there was talent on our team. Always wondered why some of them tried out when they had zero chance.
High school hoops tryouts are a joke. There’s zero doubt by the time varsity practice opens who is making the team.
Unless a 6-9 kid transfers in.
I enjoy when people who have no faith like to talk about how people who do should practice it, what counts and what does not, etc. They have no idea what they're talking about.

There were several D1 and even a NBA player when I was there. A friend of mine was drafted by the Indians and I don't think he made varsity in basketball until senior year. We won state in '94 and '95. In '94 we had 10 losses but got hot late. I don't think there were try-outs. Maybe for 11th and 12th man.
The clear solution to saving tens of thousands of American lives is to open the border back up, stop pushing on Venezuela, Mexico and China to stop exporting coke, meth, fentanyl or fentanyl components or face tariffs. But for the love of God, keep Pseudoephedrine, the one cheap successful treatment for nasal congestion from a cold out of the supermarket and make it a prescription drug. We had a few guys who played NAIA, one played D2 in Billings, MT, and that’s it. I was a 6’ point guard and could shoot and defend but could only dunk with my left hand so baseball was my main sport and that’s what I did in college. There were better hoops players on our team than me and the rest of the state but it was fun and better than watching from the stands. I had to quit playing pickup in 2023 because I was nearing 50 and got crossed over by a 31 year-old who played at Idaho. Tried to break my fall with a wrist and broke it. Didn’t know for 4 days because I was in denial it was a break. Wife made me retire from those younger player games.
