UW Couch Sales & Purchases (Portal Tracker)

Portal closes for entries the 16th. then hit a dead period for visits. Which means no visitors over the upcoming weekend Pretty quiet on the visit front from the weekend. WR is proving to be a struggle for Cummings, Porter chose ND, we will see if we can close Gill. I hope it’s not true we’re not taking an edge. We need a few difference makers on the DL.

I wonder with Leerfield coming out with NIL restrictions, if that will lower what UW can offer. It doesn’t seem that we’re willing to pay the going rate on some of these guys, other than to keep our own. Just a few thoughts this AM.

Portal closes the 16th. the window for teams in the title game is Jan. 20-24. Five more days that kids can jump from UW into the portal and yes, UW is poor.

I think what is surprising to me is that we've lost some players I didn't expect but we haven't lost players that really should be hitting the portal. I have no idea why Elisha Jackett is still on this team. I'm VERY concerned about the DL, both interior DL and Edge. We have lost 8 (9?) interior DL to either graduation or portal and only signed 3 interior DL. We have not added a meaningful veteran edge to replaced Durfee. At this point we leaning on Jacob Lane, some always injured small guys, and some freshman.

DL depth is very concerning and I'm not sure what they can do about it.

I think we have a salary cap and we’re sticking to it. Reality is right now unless you have a billionaire booster, (see final 4 teams) it will be harder and harder to win. Cuban, Knight, Campbell, John Ruiz, they don’t care about ROI.

One has to wonder if most schools will push for collective bargaining because I don't view this as sustainable and most fans will wonder what the point of competing is.

To be fair to Indiana, I believe Cuban got involved relatively recently and it's not like he's bought them a bunch of 4 and 5 stars. It's actually quite amusing that Indiana has made it to the NC with a good odds to win while Phil Knight has thrown hundreds of millions (if not over one billion) at Oregon over 3 decades and still can't buy Oregon a National Championship. If I was an Oregon fan, would I take satisfaction in that? If Oregon happens to win an NC, I wouldn't feel that great about it as an Oregon fan because the rest of CFB already knows (and is disgusted by) what Oregon is.

If you had the exact player on your roster vs on another team it's got to be cheaper to keep players that are already on your team on average. If UW can't afford to pluck starters out of the portal then they definitely can't afford to lose starters that were already on it

I think you have to. It’s not a sustainable model for 95% of programs. It’s also killing depth when you have to retain the stars. Then if a star goes down your likely in an undesirable spot.

I’m not seeing a clear path to the playoffs I may have saw this time last year for 2026. Culture took a hit with Demond and the incoming to date are just filling in the gaps.

Well something positive although his weight seems like more of a MIK LB.
He’s 260. Great size for an edge. His highlights at ISU look a lot like Durfee’s. So much for “heat from the edge”, we may need to settle for “great against the run” from our Edge players. Oh well.

I think UW as it currently sits has 82 or 83 roster slots filled. Only 15-16 guys graduated. They signed 25 recruits, they have 18 departures and 7 additions. They aren’t really super short of players right now. I don’t know why you guys think there’s only like 60 guys on the roster.
I am of the understanding that rosters are not limited to 85 anymore as a result of the NCAA settlement. While Jedd has said that he wants to stay around that number (to not dilute the NIL/revenue sharing money) his actions appear to say he will accept 90 +.

As you have noted, his portal deficit exceeds double digits. And two of these signees are not replacements but much needed kicker and punter help.

Today's edge pickup helps.
