UW Couch Sales & Purchases (Portal Tracker)

Pretty accurate to say the portal stuff thus far has been mostly okay but kind of unremarkable and still feels like we need to make more splashes on the OL and DT. The team has more to work with coming back next year which helps.
Only way that happens is if we have more departures. Just at DT, we have: Sagopolu, Butler, both Parker's, Davis', both Elinneus and Annas, and Khan coming back and have now added Thompson, Pepa and hybrid Uigaleilei, to go along with DT sized Lynch. There's only so many minutes to go around. That's not counting Macon and Caleb Smith as incoming frosh.

At this point there's no more room. OL is similar.

Right.... but are any of them actually difference makers? We're stocking the cupboards with guys picking us over Cal and Arizona. Our "blue chip ratio" has got to be down near 20% at this point.

They're capable and have the ability to be difference makers, but it matters on their coaching, scheme, and surrounding personnel.
Pepa was First Team All Pac-12 in 2022. Manu was AP Pac-12 in 2023. Willis has over 1200 snaps at OT the last 2 seasons. McLaughlin was an FCS Freshman All-American.

Who nobody seems to know about, but was going to UA before Fisch came here. Love his HS film, stocky and a bit explosive, very similar to the Lightfoot guy at Fresno who just portaled to Colorado. Has a bit of Gaines in him, looks like he hurts everyone around him on the way to the ball.

Annas Davis - Hudl

The commonality here is we're gaining size/strength and some ability right up the middle. Pepa looked like a freight train his (best) freshman year. Willis is a very good RT. Thompson is big and has some rare athletic qualities. We're getting better pieces than what's departed (Holtzclaw, Bandes, Valdez). I just wish Sagopolu would go, he showed little other than being able to hold his ground in a phone booth (which was more than Bandes could say).
I'm happy our team size is progressing rapidly.

There's a chance Sagopolu moves on I think but Kafusi could be excited about having him a full year since he only played OL before coming to UW.
I liked Valdez and he could have been better if he had more help on the DL in 2024.

If Sagopolu has a 1-year epiphany like Damion Turpin, I'd be ok with him sticking around, but Valdez was a liability against anyone bigger/stronger than he was, which was most of the BIG, especially at Iowa when he got forklifted off the ground.

He made a few good plays and would've done well as a guy getting only 10-15 reps a game.

The Idaho WR from Puyallup Criscod to TCU. I would have assumed we wanted him and could have gotten him. There's absolutely nothing proven coming back at WR other than Boston. Can't wait for the WDWHA and signing a guy from Sacramento State or another guy who is like 12th string at Arizona who apparently has a severe injury in a season where it seems like every other program is fucking healthy.

Only tim will tell if they missed or passed.

That or they have confidence in whose returning and incoming. If there was real opportunity it'd be strange for Keith Reynolds to bolt.

I bet they are thinking they are going to get Cook and won't let Florida outbid UW.

banking on getting a kid from the south when he hasn't even visited sec schools seems like an odd strategy.

There’s also the JC DL. Can’t remember his name. I thought he played pretty well against NW? Then he was hurt off and on the rest of the year. Will be interesting what size he is when fall camp starts as he too will have his first offseason in a D1 strength program. Keep stacking big humans on that Dline.
Wasn’t hurt. His kid unfortunately passed away and he was away from the team for a few weeks. They just decided it was best to redshirt him. He’s a freak athlete, might end up being our best player next year.

Probably. Tough to say how the staff feels about the WR corp with so many young guys besides Boston. Williams should be good as a RS-Soph next year but Robinson will only be a RS-Frosh (read good things about him) and the other guys are also unproven (Green, Harris, and Justice Williams).
I would guess they want to bring in an experienced player to compete for the #2 job with Rashid Williams.
