The program will take a step forward next year

Indiana has a killer at head coach. As long as he is there they will be top of the conference. Projecting a Fisch type season onto him is hope at best.
They won’t be always at the top of the conference. He’s a very good coach. They will drop off at some point and it will be tough to get back. They won’t be the Indiana of old, but they won’t stay this new version soon. Just my prediction.

Jedd just needed to go 2/4 in his harder games and Washington would be talked about as a college football cornerstone program that you can't kill, because 1 year later was 7-6 and didn't flip a coin to end the game, and then 10-2 this year.
0/4. It is what it is.

I think Mark Cuban is pumping money into Indiana now.

Assuming he gets the transfers he needs, I see Fisch going 9-3 next year and then getting a head coaching gig in the NFL.
Takes like these are so hilariously cold. How many college coaches have transitioned to the NFL, ever? And when was the last time it happened? And the time before that? And what success had those guys had at this level?

Demond sucks. He holds on to the ball, has little pocket presence, and lacks arm strength.
Without Boston I see him being pretty average next year.
And Jedd doesn't know how to coach him, or scheme for him.
They should have him doing RPO stuff and running the ball, not dropping back taking deep shots.

Takes like these are so hilariously dumb and show you don't know a damn thing about the NFL.
Fish won’t be an NFL head coach but maybe an OC. His offense would work fine in the NFL where everyone is basically the same talent level. His route concepts, tempo, lack of taking advantage of the college hashes and the incessant huddling up just don’t fly when there is a massive talent disparity like he has on his offensive line and WR. Pete Carrol could do it at USC, Saban at Bama because they had the best dudes in the country. He won’t score against teams with great defensive talent unless he can somehow recruit/develop the requisite talent to be at least near even or even with them. I think he’ll acquire enough talent to score on the Wisconsin and Iowa types, maybe even Oregon but probably not OSU, Georgia or LSU. He needs a college offense to mitigate that kind of talent gap but he’s just too stubborn.

He’s already been a terrible OC in the NFL. He actually has a lot in common with Mora. He’s had very little success as a coordinator and assistant coach but is hyped up as being somewhat of a guru.

Mora had shitty defenses in the NFL as a coordinator. Fisch was an OC of bottom tier offenses when he was with the Jaguars.

Fisch started to get his offenses rolling at Arizona. I don’t think he’s clueless but his offensive coaching has not been close to good enough.

Year 3 is the measure…whining about stuff before that is just whining. The recruiting class is good but there are a couple pieces they better get in the portal if they want to make year 3 a success…namely a DE, a CB, an OT, and a WR if there is an elite one available. And a punter that’s not Australian. Think/hope Jedd learned his lesson in year 1 about not getting Marcus Bryant…cost them 2 games. He spent $$$ in Year 2…hopefully that wasn’t a one-off

And hopefully Jedd kills some brain cells and quits overthinking and getting too cute if he’s still calling plays. Most successful FB coaches aren’t Mensa members…probably a reason for that.

Washington has had two coaches come in and have success before year 3
Neuheisel and DeBoer
Neuheisel then flopped, DeBoer took the best job in the sport.
Year 3 is still the barometer. Playoff or fired.

We finished 5-4 in the B10 in Jed's 2nd year. That is a 1 game improvement over his 1st year and puts us in the same rarified air as Minnesota and Illinois. To some, this may seem like an impressive feat, but the reality is that we are just a mediocre B10 team, just like last year.
In year 2, we still have no signature wins. We got beat by double digits against the only 3 good B10 teams we played this year. We have had multiple signature losses.
The mediocre coaching has been a constant, as have been the head scratching decisions. Jedd seems to enjoy the act of calling plays more than he cares whether they work or not. He seems about as competitive as Ty was. It would be nice to have someone who hates to lose, but Jedd really doesn't seem to care much.
The defense is really the only thing we can point to that is measurably better than last year. But because the offense has been just as inept as last year, that hasn't translated into a different overall outcome.
So I don't see an upward trajectory. I see a mediocre team that will continue to be mediocre next year. We are able to overwhelm most of the less talented teams, but get overwhelmed by every good team we play.
What will be different next year that will turn us into a 7 or 8 win B10 team?

Half time orange slices.

I thought the NFL might be the best place for Fisch, but after this season, I don't see any redeeming qualities that he would bring to an NFL team.
He's not innovative, he's a lousy play-caller, can't win big games and, despite what some people in here think, he's a shitty CEO.
I mean, what does he bring to the table that an NFL team would want?

Fisch at 8-4 in year 2 - AIDS, shit at everything
Peterlips at 6-6 in year 2 - trust the process (Race was gearing up to fire him)
Despite the wishing for the DeBoer and Cignetti path, that is the exception not the rule and year 3 is the litmus test for a coach.
Fisch either makes the playoffs in year 3, or he likely never will.
10-2 is not some sisyphean task. 6 wins to 8 to 10.
The DAWGS were competitive for 3 quarters against Ohio State, Michigan, and Oregon.
Fisch needs to figure out how to score some points and get our DAWGS into the playoffs. Or he needs to go coach Mississippi State or some shit if he cant.

The point about Petersen is valid. He was 4-5 in the conference in Years 1 and 2 and blew a very winnable game against Oregon in 2015. I was hoping for a quicker turnaround but Pete had the resume to have some patience. I would have fired Pete after 2016 for anything less than 6-3 in the conference.
With Fisch heading into this season I think you would go with the following grading scale.
10-2 - A
9-3 - B
8-4 - C
7-5 - D
6-6 - F
You gotta fire Fisch for 6-6 in Year 2 and at 10-2, he's looking like the fucking Man. Instead, we're stuck him getting a C in year 2. I have significant concerns (50/50) that we'll end up needing to fire Jedd after next year. But it's reckless on so many levels to fire an 8-4 in year 2 guy. It's terrible optics for the program and the next guy could be fucking worse.

Have you watched NFL offenses? There’s a reason I like college ball better. Fishlips needs to give up this pro style bullshit, spread the field and give his midget QB the best opportunity to be great.

Petersen was also ultimately a disappointment. Good but not good enough
We want the exception to the rule. We had it
Fuck off with settling for mediocre
Same shit different day
