We finished 5-4 in the B10 in Jed's 2nd year. That is a 1 game improvement over his 1st year and puts us in the same rarified air as Minnesota and Illinois. To some, this may seem like an impressive feat, but the reality is that we are just a mediocre B10 team, just like last year.
In year 2, we still have no signature wins. We got beat by double digits against the only 3 good B10 teams we played this year. We have had multiple signature losses.
The mediocre coaching has been a constant, as have been the head scratching decisions. Jedd seems to enjoy the act of calling plays more than he cares whether they work or not. He seems about as competitive as Ty was. It would be nice to have someone who hates to lose, but Jedd really doesn't seem to care much.
The defense is really the only thing we can point to that is measurably better than last year. But because the offense has been just as inept as last year, that hasn't translated into a different overall outcome.
So I don't see an upward trajectory. I see a mediocre team that will continue to be mediocre next year. We are able to overwhelm most of the less talented teams, but get overwhelmed by every good team we play.
What will be different next year that will turn us into a 7 or 8 win B10 team?
