The Knowledge’s 🏀 UW hoops mega thread

🥴

Yeah Dan, 1 tournament appearance in 15 years === we should be more worried about *losing* Sprinkle.

At some point you have to admit that nobody's "complaining" about the team nor being unfair to Sprinkle. Shockingly disappointing season, your words buddy.

Sprinkle is now 1-19 against top 40 opponents. You’d figure if a team is well coached they would stumble into a game or five where one team can’t shoot or your team is hot from the field. Nope. Not UW. Hopkins was 9-41 in those same games for reference. 2-6 in his one NCAA tournament year. Can someone burn some sage in Hec Ed? It’s got some seriously bad mojo.

Kinda wild that a team led by this guy and McDaniels was soft as shit. Hopkins found a way
Hopkins is a terrible coach. McDaniels was very raw with a limited offensive game. Stewart was good. It should have been a better team but there are always freshman like McDaniels that have talent but are nothing special as college freshman. There was no coach that would have made him a great player on offense. Again, Hopkins sucked and is a goofy moron, but still.

Sprinkle is done. I thought throwing all the kids but Zoom under the bus last year was warranted. That team was listless and didn't seem to care. This year he lauded his ability to be here for a full portal season, knowing what it was going to take financially to bring in talent. I figured, sure, a learning curve is acceptable. Then he signs a consensus top 15 portal class. Some services had it as high as #6 nationally. Sweet, they have his hand picked guys that have proven it at other schools. LFG! Then they sign a top 15 high school recruiting class with the top 18 year old international player available. Holy fuck! this team has talent! Then the games start. The players are better, absolutely. You can see it when they run the floor and some of the amazing things they can do with a basketball. Much better collection of talent. BUT, the team plays the same as last year and Sprinkle is still blaming the kids for their sloppy play, missed open shots and fucking energy levels. I could pull up pressers from last year where he calls out the same shit. Jesus Christ. Hey Fuck Face, you're the coach, coach that shit out of them! He is unable to get a group of talented players to play as a team. I liked his story, I liked his resume but he's a loser. Sad, poor UW will be stuck with unwatchable basketball for another year in 2026/27 as Sprinkles buy out is around 5 million. If he were a true Husky he would resign and spare us another season of this miserable basketball.

Wonder if Huggy Bear has enough left in the tank for one more run.
Huggins is a good coach who has a clear program identity but him in Seattle would cause mass protesting from outraged students and faculty. As much as that might please me on one level I just want to win some fucking basketball games and be one of the best 35 schools in the country. Nothing crazy. Football is king, I want final 4’s but basketball is just to pass the time. Can UW ever be fun to watch? It’s been since 2006. Even the last two IT teams were frustrating. They both greatly underachieved. Just Play to the back of your basketball card. Can any coach in America win in Seattle? Christ, so much AIDS at Hec Ed.

That would be fine.

Just win, baby.

per @Tequilla tweets UW contract keeps sprinks here. Last night was abysmal. Team has poor ball control. Turnovers likely one of the bigger culprits to so many losses. Pleasant last night needed to hold onto the ball to get a potential game tying 3 off and hands the ball over. I agree the offense is trash. Lack of communication. Teams will double Steinbach every time and I'm not certain there is verbalization that guys defenders are leaving to defend Hannes. I'm just looking for answers. Doesn't appear this team has the cohesion needed to be better.
