Good topic on Say Who Pod around the NFL Combine - who were the Huskies you thought were surefire NFL guys, whether they panned out or not. Some of mine:

Jerramy Stevens - 6'7 with his athleticism I thought the Seahawks got a steal. I knew there was off-field stuff. Didn't know how bad it was. The fact that he had himself in such good position in that Super Bowl showed he was a guy but lacked the mental part.

Reggie Williams - So big, so strong, so fast, hands. Felt like a Shaq Thompson type just obvious 5 star, obvious college star, at least career NFL guy.

Shaq Thompson - Easy one here though I will say his NFL career is kind of like his college career where it felt like he just never quite was electric.

Vita Vea - Just too big of a freak to not be a guy.

Greg Gaines - Most wouldn't think of him like this but I do. Didn't think he would be a star but he was such a backbone for four years and I don't think ever missed a single game I felt there was no way he wouldn't maximize his NFL career. He had a moment with the Rams but I'm guessing his body started to break down given how hard he plays and never takes anything off.

Penix - I'll fired up highlights from 2022-23 and just don't see how he can't be a good NFL QB with his skills unless he just can't stay healthy or not be on a fucked up team. Maybe the best college passer I've seen on any team ever.

I'll throw in Marcus Peters as a bonus if you can forget about the mental part. The guy just looked and moved like a Pro Bowl NFL corner. Case in point he went 18th despite getting kicked off his team. Oh, and McDuffie, assume he's a top 5-10 pick in another era where being 5'10 at the combine wasn't such a detriment.

Ross and McMillan. Speed and how defenses had to gameplan around them, seemed like only injuries could stop them at the next level.

Reggie for sure. Only he could've derailed his career, and apparently he did.

John Ross for sure

Bishop Sankey. He was dominant at UW and killed the combine. Best athlete at the combine ong running backs and he had production to back it up. I thought he'd kill it in the NFL too.

Dana Hall was a favorite of mine. SF wanted him at safety though, understandably given his size, and he didn't take to it.

Dillon is probably the earlier one I can remember.

Reggie it sounds like may have not put the work in and had off the field stuff. Outside of that it seemed like that generation of 6'4 225 WRs becoming the future didn't happen and instead guys who are serious route runners swung back in NFL and college.

I was always skeptical on Ross. He didn't do anything in the P12CG with Chidobe Awuzie on him outside of a freak play or against Bama's DBs so I worried he didn't have the physicality.

Sankey being such a massive bust surprised me. Seemed like a guy who was an automatic 4-6 yards that the NFL would love. Don't really remember him having injury issues either.

Tui as a surefire NFL guy is a take.

This isn’t directly on topic, but here are some Dawgs in the NFL thoughts…

I can be a sucker for college production and thought Kikaha was a steal in the 2nd round. One of my favorite players.

I knew Shelton was a waste of an early pick. Non pass rushing DT that is not even dominant in the run game. All of his sacks were against Hawaii and Eastern. Every NFL team has one DT, if not multiple like him.

I didn’t think he would be a star, but I thought Qualls would play for a lot longer.

I thought both Sidney Jones and Kevin King would have better careers. Injuries make it a what if, but neither was ever anything special in the NFL.

Buddha’s career doesn’t surprise me. His instincts and tackling are too good, although part of me has always hated him for having bricks for hands. It’s always bothered me.

I had a feeling ASJ wouldn’t do much.

I’m glad BBK played a couple of years. BBK so Drake Thomas could run.

Shelton going 12th in that draft while running a 5.64 40 at the combine is pretty crazy and feels impossible now. I remember the better teams would run some side to side stuff, gas him and then go right up the middle. That must have been a really crappy draft.

I actually thought Jones would be the best DB of that group. I wonder if the achilles injury really took him out. Definitely cost him being a first round pick.

ASJ always seemed very stiff. Him and Jerramy Stevens were guys who I remember people talking about what if they bulked up a bit out of high school and just played left tackle.

Selfish, but I wish Budda would have played his senior year. I always forget it wasn't a guarantee he was going.

This thread lacks focus. What the fuck are we? talking about? Guys who should've been great pros who weren't or guys who shouldn't have been great pros who were or just guys who were great pros?

Consider that Lawyer Milloy and Reggie Williams are in the same thread. Let's clean it up.

Sure fire guys whether they panned out or not is a mish-mash of a topic.
