Sorry if this has already been brought up but the “collective” is paying this kid all of this money to do what? Just play mediocre football? How about he actually build some trust with the community and sign some shit for kids? Any chance he can show up to a boys and girls club? How about do some assemblies? Nope, gotta hide him from public eye for a while. I think he did a Simply Seattle signing last year. Why not do that again? Too worried some fat loser will heckle you? I’m sure you have good handlers there to help. Odunze and McMillan showed up to fucking Tulip Town in Skagit County three years ago. Where the hell are the meet and greets posted at so kids can grow to love these players even more? Are we even trying to hype the program? None of the kids I’m around even talk Husky football. It’s weird. This would be as good a time as any.

Good call. Jedddd talks a good game. Put these fuckers out in the community and shit. Demond should appear on some stupid On3 podcasts and talk about cold plunges and being addicted to the grind…or something.
 
It got me thinking about how it shouldn't even be called NIL. It's a farce of what it was supposed to be or sold as. It's yeah basically a salary for being a player but with no collective bargaining agreement. Especially now, Demond's name, image, and likeness might be worth negative value is the funny part. I think some of the old autograph and kids camps things were kind of just like money laundering event type stuff to cover your ass in case of it ever being enforced what the guys were getting paid for.

We have a lot of things becoming snakes eating their own tails and sports is becoming one of them where it's more about players and coaches and the structures around them making as much money as possible and not about the fans, who are really the whole reason the things exist anyway, almost at all other than being paypigs.

I have a feeling that the OTHER players getting paid are getting shifted around to do the Simply Seattle stuff, and Demond's cut is just going to be straight cash and maybe a private appearance or two for Tyee only.

There's no way that Softy and Greg don't hate Demond for what he did. Just like there's no way that Mario isn't praising him for what he did (he pretty much said on air he'd be taking the money).
 
I remember listening to the Honks after the Oregon game and being shocked by how genuinely disappointed it seemed like them, and specifically Softy, were being, and specifically about Demond. If I remember correct, I think he specifically questioned well if he's not big enough to be a consistent runner and he's not a great passer and is tiny then what the hell is he?

I don't think it's impossible. In his defense, I don't think the program did or has done a good job at getting him weapons to work with. To give him some credit his WR2 & 3 last year were 3* freshman types whose best other offers were barely Pac-12 between the two of them. His TE is a true sophomore guy who traditionally maybe doesn't even get a UW offer and if he does doesn't see the field until his redshirt junior year.

I'm impressed y'all listen to KJR at all.

I quit that a couple years ago and don't miss it one tiny little iota.

Pretty sure my IQ went up from not listening.
