Race Bannon's OFFICIAL Golf Talk 2023-2024 Thread

I hear the greens are firm at Chambers Bay...

They should book it for 2035 or something then. But Chambers would be awesome in August. The amount of years these events get booked out in advance is a problem. The US open has like one spot open in the next 10 years. PGA is booked out through 2034 I think. Pinehurst and Pebble each like 4-5 spots in the next 20, no thanks on that many.

The city of University Place shot themselves in the dick by not green lighting new development to bring in resorts and hotels around the course. $200 million, annually, estimated in revenue for the area and they are too stupid to get it done. I doubt Chambers gets another big event if they don't figure that out. The area around the course is all housing and it's a total bitch to get in and out of there.

CHRIST

Like Teq said 98% of rounds aren’t real competition. Sure there is money on the line but it’s for fun. Which means

Music
Booze
Cigars (I don’t but others sure do)
Weed (a few dudes I play with light up)

Music does need to be generally agreed, so I keep customized stations of 90s alt rock, classic rock and rap/hip hop.

But it’s rare to find myself playing golf in a group where all golfers don’t share in the general agreement that we’re gonna drink, play some tunes, smoke if you wanna and talk shit.

I stand with Race. The course is a cathedral, just like the trout stream, or the ski hill, etc. Music don't belong.

If I wanna rock out, I've got the perfect venue at home for such things.

I'll laugh at the frost delay while I'm up in Canada playing golf in perfect weather

Will provide a trip report upon returning ... 81% likely to be more entertaining than the PGA
