Question for the bored

One might also consider the point of view of most hikers, who would like the MTN bikers to fuck off back to bmx tracks or city park paths where they belong.

agree. Mt Biking on heavy hiker use trailers is lame. Our local trail system was built by and maintained by the mt bike community. Hikers are pretty minimal and tend to focus on other trails.

Damn you for being a good sport.

I don't have a side even though I acted like I care. I hear it's an issue around here, but I don't hike many trails and the ones I do aren't used by bikes.

I'm good at nuance and you know, pal.

I think you have look at it from a highest and best us perspective. A lot of hiking trails are too steep and rocky for Mt Bikes and a lot of mt bike trails are purpose built for bikes and too busy with bikes for hikers. You gotta be self aware about this stuff.

There's one trail that we ride a lot above Tumalo Falls that's heavy mixed use so I just smile and put on the Yella Dimplomacy charm and the hikers don't get annoyed. If you're an introvert, autistic mt biker type interacting with hikers this is harder to do.
