No doubt. I've said the new schedule sucks since it came out. The signature events are spaced poorly among other issues like the majors being jammed together
Jack and Tiger set their schedule for the majors and Jack had the pull to get a good schedule spot for the Memorial
Perhaps a way for Rory to redeem himself?

I didn’t realize Rory was skipping Memorial to play in the fucking Canuck open. That’s fucking retarded for the most vocal guy on the PGA tour to skip a signature event, let alone Jack’s tournament, to play somewhere else. Rory deserves heat for this. I figured he was just taking a week off.

Canadian is next week. Rory wants to play the week before a major. Not everyone does. He doesn’t want to play the two weeks in a row ahead of a major. Last year Memorial was the week before the US Open. Too much packed into May and none of it is that good to get heated about skipping. Plus he’s gonna play a bunch of Europe stuff in September. I’m on Rory’s side on this one.

The heart of the matter as Don Henley would say - the retarded tour championship. I get it that FREDEX is a huge sponsor and pays a lot of money for the year long advertising about the Cup. I've yet to meet anyone that actually cares about it including players. Yes, a 20 million dollar check is always welcome but every pro would trade it for a major.
The tour destroyed the schedule by moving the "playoffs" (PLAYOFFS?) to all of August. Nothing like Memphis in August. The NFL wasn't the problem. The playoffs are
In 2018 when Tiger won for the first time in 5 years as Justin Rose won the Cup everyone was fine. As usual the media was there with their REAL champion bullshit. Hey it killed college football why not try it again?
I actually like Sunday golf in September because the NFL is still glorified exhibition ball
Now in a couple weeks the Major season is all but over and its still June. The one thing the PGA Championship had going for it was being last - Glory's Last Chance was actually good marketing

Time to give Scottie some credit even though he is still awfully young. Within the bubble of 2022- to today his numbers are up there with the best. Needs to stack some more majors in there but 16 wins is impressive

It’s an impressive list of wins. Pretty much all signature events. No Punta Cana championships on that list.
Sitting next to Scottie Scheffler at the Memorial Tournament winner’s press conference, Jack Nicklaus said “he’s playing better than I played and more consistent.” The GOAT was being overly nice.
Bob Harig: FACT. Scheffler is playing incredibly consistent golf. And beating people by big margins. But Jack had 35 top-10s in majors out of 40 in the 1970s. That’s just one of his amazing stats. Scottie is great. He’s been doing it for less than four seasons.
John Pluym: FACT. How do you not listen to what the GOAT says (although I do disagree with him on walk-and-talk interviews)? Scheffler is the best player in the game. He’s on a Tiger Woods–type run. However, Scheffler needs to do it consistently over an extended period before you can say he’s playing better than Nicklaus.
Jeff Ritter: FACT. Jack won 18 majors and also famously came in second 19 times. Scottie’s on a great run, but Nicklaus did it for such a ridiculously long amount of time. I think he’ll forever be the king of consistency.
John Schwarb: FACT. Scheffler is only 28. If he’s sitting next to Nicklaus five years from now at age 33 (and when Jack is 90, knock on wood) with the career Grand Slam completed and about 35 to 40 Tour wins, then the comparisons would be more apt. Yet the Golden Bear would still get the nod.

McIlroy, who skipped last week’s signature event, the Memorial Tournament, was not asked about that decision.
