I am also concerned with pilot competence. But that doesn't appear to be the issue this time. Like I said why did you vote for continuing DEI and putting pilot competence behind DEI categories. I know that focusing on the issues at hand is like salt to a snail and accepting responsibility for your team's policies is like the adult thing to do but you are hardly an adult.
 
I don’t understand why you all wrapped up on race-when I’m airborne and on the radio I don’t ask the person first if they are a DEI hire or not. SwoopTheMoin for the record is pro pilot safety, pro FAA reform, and anti uneducated opinion!

That's in the Constitution and in the 1964 Civil Rights Act. It is your team that prioritized skin color. You voted for it. When Kamala was made VP solely because she was female and black don't tell me that I'm caught up in race. I choose not to ignore the lack of competency when I see it. All those white dudes who were after Trump were incompetent and corrupt. Newsom is incompetent. And so is Bass the LA mayor. Skin color or sex or sexual preference has nothing to do with it. You just choose to ignore and excuse incompetence for reasons you will never explain.

Airlines and the government ATC have been making DEI hires for years and there have been many near misses. It was a matter of time before something like this happened. If it has nothing to do with it, I'll stand corrected.

Please provide evidence of airlines and the ATC making "DEI" hires for years. Please provide statistical evidence of there being more aircraft incidents since whatever make believe DEI programs you think exist were initiated. Or even an NTSB report where a contributing cause of an incident/accident was
Aviation safety requires objective evaluation of competency for any operational role. The system breaks down without that. The industry has definitely tried to expand the overall hiring pool in the past 2 decades simply to help the labor force. That's not DEI because if you're not qualified you're not gonna get hired. There has been no lessening of expectations; if anything they have gotten stricter in order to continue to improve the safety margins of the industry.

I think it has been covered by other folks since I am just catching up on this thread, but there indeed have been DEI hires throughout the industry. Some of it is corporate greed and corner cutting or whatever, see Boeing. Whether you want to accept it's probably a factor is another topic I guess.

What is a DEI hire? There have absolutely been outreaches to find more employees to work in aviation. It's a labor intensive business and labor shortages have been a challenge. There is still a shortage in many roles. That outreach takes many forms.
I struggle to comprehend anyone in position of authority to approve someone to proceed in a safety critical role due to some lessening of standards for non-whites. They would be derelict in their duty if that happened.
