OFFICIAL Indiana (IU) vs Miami - NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME Thread

No one is defending Fisch. He needs to make the playoffs in year 3.

Going 25-3 over a two year stretch is not a realistic standard and was enabled by the Hesiman runner up.

Making the playoffs in year 3 of a total roster nuke is a good expectation. Fisch improved every year at Arizona, he needs to do the same in year 3 here or we need to hire Eck or someone who can.

It's realistic because it's real

It's not realistic for a shitty coach with no sense of urgency or pressure

And you defend Fisch like he's your mother

DeBoer is horrible and he sucks but Fisch could never do what he did

JFC

People here are praying that Fisch figures it out in year 3 after seeing ample evidence the past two seasons that he, in fact, is not capable of figuring it out. Does not make any sense other than they don't want to acknowledge reality and are scared of cutting bait on the comfort of 9-win seasons.

"But who would UW get that is better than Fisch?!?!"

Let’s see how Indiana looks next year.

For Fisch it's real simple.

He has to make the playoff next year.
End of discussion (for me).

When you can turn it in a few years (not even saying "natty or bust") at a place that was historically horrendous, you can do it anywhere if you're the guy.

You dont fire a coach in year 2 for going 9-4 heading into a make or break year 3.

25-3 over two years is not realistic expectations for a brand new coach. It is an outlier only matched/surpassed by Cignetti.

Saying this doesnt mean you defend a coach when the expectation is playoffs or fired by the end of year 3. Fisch needs to figure it out or he needs to leave.

Dannon gets paid over a million bucks

You don't wait to see what is obvious if you're good at your job

So...we'll wait to see him fail

3 exhibition seasons. Feel that excitement

You do if you've seen enough to determine that said coach isn't on a trajectory to reach the playoffs or bust goal in year 3. 9-4 against a pillow soft schedule, with uncompetitive losses to the only decent teams on the schedule, doesn't suggest that UW is playoff bound next year.

Yep. A story as old as tim

A 9 win season filled with empty calories and cupcakes

He might win 9 this year and PGOS will forgive him him for not making the playoffs

I say 7 wins tops

Nope, since he was first hired I said UW needed to be back in the playoffs by year 3.

I will give a coach 3 years during a rebuild even in the portal era, so long as there is improvement, which there was.

The defense was more than able this year, it was the offense that wasnt and that is concerning.

Also - the UW schedule was not pillow soft, it was actually difficult and to say otherwise is lying.

Cignetti convinced his JMU guys to trust him and get on the biggest ride of their lives, fuck all the other suitors including Miami with Mendoza. Cuban or no cuban, they are a large alum base that got it done similarly to us? with Odunze, Penix, etc.

Jedd seemingly did some halfway thing between built for life and getting paid and his Arizona core didn't buy into it.

That is no longer a debate.

And if the Arizona core didn’t buy in, why would anyone?
Because getting local kids to come back or commit out of high school and buy in to state pride (🌈) and get after it like a motherfucker transcends coaching staffs or it appears to.

This mediocre staff with just expected recruiting effort is pulling it off right now. One of our best defensive players came back from UCF and shits purple and gold.
