Also 0 - 1 against capitalism.
Soviets are trash and always have been. Best known for soup and bread lines, famines, and losing.
0-1 against oil price collapse.Also 0 - 1 against capitalism.
1-0 only because of us1-0 against the Nazis
0-1 against Afghanistan
I love that there’s a John Bircher twatter handle.
By f-15 us has pulled way ahead on jet tech. But before that Ruskies has great jets and SAM tech. MiG 15 totally shocked us over Korean. Russian SAMs were tough over Nam and shor down a ton of our jets (flown by the IDF) in the Yom Kippor War.The Soviet ground game was worthless because the US had an air game that would vaporize them. Much smarter because missels don't eat
They had to steal any technology they got just like any commies. Worthless ideology
Soviet designs started showing cracks once we about about 20-25 years post WWIIBy f-15 us has pulled way ahead on jet tech. But before that Ruskies has great jets and SAM tech. I meant to follow up with @CFetters_Nacho_Lover on this. I think if you look at early 1941-42 performance of the Soviets they look twash AF and there's no way they get to Berlin in April 1945 with out lend lease. At the same time, the US probably is looking at 500K to 750K dead to take Germany w/o Soviet cannon fodder.
But you have to look at the USSR based on the cold war might.
- First in Space
- Massive Ground Game that could have overrun NATO conventionally rather easily
- Good military equipment- i.e., tanks, jets, SAMs
- Energy sufficiency
- Only country other thank @ukdawg and @SECDAWG to ever pose and existential threat the the US Homefront.
Yeah, we would have dropped on Germany, but it wasn't necessary because the Red Army did the job of killing 9/10 of every Wehrmacht/Herr soldier. We didn't even know if the bomb would work when Germany surrendered.
Japan wasn't that great of an Empire. Their Army was shit (weak as fuck on tanks and artillery) and couldn't even beat China after a decade of trying and got their butts kicked by the Soviets in the 1939 border war and in Manchuria in Aug 1945. They were good a fighting to the last man and inflicting casualties but never had any successful opposed amphibious landings.Japan was a lot tougher empire and we didn't need any commies to whip them
The Soviets were unbeatable until Ronnie spent them into the grave. Then it was inevitable and always going to happen
US had air superiority in every conflict Post ww2
There was no reason to give them shit other than the fact that the US government was infiltrated. And the schools and the media
Anti communists were always freaks according to the elites. And always right
Carter was ready to give it all away when Reagan took over. Thank Allah for anti communists
Were the Essex class carriers the fast escort carriers? I just a book on the USS Cowpens which was an escort carrier. Amazing ingenuity to take either destroyers or cruisers and convert them into small carriers and get them into the fight quickly while the larger fleet carriers were getting built.Japan wasn't that great of an Empire. None of this is to say their Naval achievements weren't great for a time. They had by far the most impressive carrier forces in the World in 1941 and even in after Midway they still outnumbered the US in fleet carriers and planes. It wasn't until the Essex class ships came online a year later in mid 1943 that the US truly got the upper hand.
Essex class were the full size, fast "fleet" carriers. We built 24 during the war and shortly thereafter. Were the Essex class carriers the fast escort carriers? As empires go, they were like a sports car stuck in first gear. Great off the line but you gotta be able to shift down and close. Be it inherent limitations (resources, ideology) or Hitler decision making, they faded fast. They sure had half the world or more scared shitless for a bit, though.I think the Nazis take the cake based on the hype from historians and fear they installed relative to their actual military capability.
@CFetters_Nacho_Lover been listening to audio version of Victor Davis Hanson's (TITTT) new WW2 book https://www.amazon.com/Second-World-Wars-Global-Conflict/dp/0465066984
Really enjoying it so far. He focuses more on the how and why the allies won as it relates to technology, strategy, and less on individual battles and stories of the soldiers. I tend to like the technology, industry and grand strategy stuff more.
I think people tend to forget that as good as German infantry and panzers were in WW2, they fucking sucked at @Logistics and force projection and industrial productions. Germany was never a threat to land on the beaches of @ukdawg . The Royal Navy and RAF would have blown them out of the water. Even during the Battle of Britain the Brits were building fighters at way faster pace than Germany. Best Hitler could have hoped for was U Boats sinking enough tonnage to get UK to sue for peace.
Nazis were great at winning quick border battles but were still an army that depending on horses for @Logistics once they got beyond the railheads. They had minimal oil and hardly any trucks. Basically a WW1 infantry force with some very good (but not enough) tanks.
You can't do amphibious invasions w/o a fuck ton of boats and command of the skies. The Germans had neither. As empires go, they were like a sports car stuck in first gear. The fucking British holding their own in the air while they were, as Churchill said, "alone". I'm no expert but you have to think Goering was like, "Oh fuck. We thought once we had air strips in France we were gonna fuck these guys but not so fast my friend." And then Barbarossa. What? You were that sure the US wasn't going to get involved or just gave no fucks? He was no Alexander the Great, that's for sure.
