We haven't forgotten that the White House intervened to make it nearly impossible for schools to reopen, including sticking to the stupid 6 feet social distancing rule. I know teachers in Seattle that begged the union and the district to let them teach outside, or at least relax some of the rules. The CDC directly collaborated with the American Federation of Teachers to craft February’s reopening guidance — even including AFT language “suggestions” nearly verbatim in the final document. From my recollection, 15 days to slow the spread came did not come with business shutdowns, school closures, masks, no definitions of essential businesses that could stay open etc.
It was social distancing guidelines, work from home if you can and stay home if you are sick, etc.
