I recommend reading the complete article:http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...peters-washington-nfl-draft-combine/23259443/

He goes through the different incidents he had during his career at UW. Talks about the last year, where he had to deal with a lot of new expectations in his life.

He has some good things to says about Petersen:
"I don't blame (Petersen) for anything. All I can blame is myself, because I made those decisions and I have to live with them."

About EWU game "I just embarrassed the whole University of Washington program on live television – me throwing, as my mama would say, a hissy fit," said Peters, who was suspended for the next week's game against Illinois. "I threw a hissy fit, man. I embarrassed my teammates, the coaching staff, the program, man. I wouldn't have let me back on after that."

Last week "I apologized to him once again, and I told him that I appreciate him even working with me," Peters said. "They were working with me a lot, and I just – I didn't get it. I didn't see it in front of me that they were trying to help me out.
"To be honest, I would tell you today: Why wouldn't you kick me off the team? He was trying to help me. He was teaching me some hard lessons at that time, and I just didn't take it right."

He will be at UW pro day.

A lot of parents who think being soft will help little Corky succeed in life need to read this. It's hard to be a disciplinarian. We want to be liked. But if you think about it the coaches or teachers who we respect years later were the ones that cared enough to be a hardass when it mattered.

I agree and glad CP showing it wasn't anything personal and that Peters' dismissal was best for everyone involved.

Hopefully the message really is sinking in with Peters and maybe he's already working with a behavioral coach at the behest of his agent.

I was going to chalk most of what he said up to advice from his agent, but the fact that he's allowed to participate in UW pro day says a lot.

Only part of the article that made me cringe a bit was the comments from Peters' dad saying that Peters had no warning, just gone.

I find that hard to believe.

And given Marcus' comments, I think he probably finds that hard to believe as well.

Make no mistake, this is a fluff piece. It is interesting, but still a fluff piece. Peters' agent told him to get ahead of everything.

I did think wtf to Petersen mentioning the music Peters listens to. What does he think young black dudes listen to? There was a video of UW players before the Apple Cup getting hyped to , "in love with the cocoa." Cocoa is slang for cocaine for you old geysers out there.

He's practicing talking the talk. I doubt he's had as huge of a turnaround as he's letting on. I'm sure he learned a little something though. Sometimes you have to bite your tongue, smile and play nice whether you like it or not. The lesson will serve him well, I'm sure.

For the record Petersen did not say that, that was what Peters' Dad said Petersen said. And judging by the music that Petersen lets play pre-game (as you pointed out) I don't believe that for a second.

All he said was that he mentioned it...context strategically omitted. It was a fucked up cheap shot by Peters senior.

And as @RoadDawg55 pointed out, this is an absolute fluff piece that his agent likely set up with the author. I like how it says in there that "Peters couldn't bring himself to watch football until Washington's Cactus Bowl loss to Oklahoma State"..... Please.

Yea the whole music part is probably completely taking out of context. Peterman might have mentioned music attributing to the STRANGLING of coaches but I doubt he flat out said the music was a reason why he was cut.

Petersen is a guy that is all about details. Like Road said, they had music about cocacine playing pre-game of the Apple Cup (love the beat on that song by the way) and Petersen said that it was one of their best pre-game atmospheres of the season after the Apple Cup.

For a guy that has a teenage son, and plans everything to meticulous detail I HIGHLY doubt the music that Peters listens to was the reason he was kicked off the team.

And without context, maybe Petersen told his Dad that Peters was playing music and not paying attention in team meetings. Who knows.
