Don't think this makes any sense. He wants to not going to the Big 10 which will now be Ryan Day, James Franklin, a neutered Michigan and his west coast rivals which is a team that offers $5,000 401ks against their NIL deals and one with the worst culture I've ever seen in college football. I assume Phil and Oregon can match any A&M money. Chip left because he got kicked out of college football for writing a university check to a bag man and Mario left for his dream job.

The move for Lanning is to try and keep winning at Oregon and aim for the Alabama job to replace Saban.

Looking ahead. Hell, either way, I look at Michigan and Penn State and feel like if Oregon and Washington (with Deboer sticking around) are able to keep it up at QB after Penix and Nix and in the long-term they should do pretty well, especially when those schools gotta come out west. USC just feels like it's going to be a terrible culture until proven otherwise more than one year in a row.
 
I don't see how aTm can risk it on anyone other than KKKliff Kingsbury. That's their guy for sure.
 
All jokes aside, I think Sanders could do some damage at A&M. Honestly, what do they have to lose. Nothing and nobody ever works down there, and it makes no sense. They have an endowment that is literally 5X what UW's is (and UW isn't poor by any stretch), and it has a lore to people that I do not understand. College Station, IMO, sucks, the campus has no real redeeming qualities and their football history is ok, at best.

So with all that, why wouldn't you swing for the fence. Take a guy who has a high ceiling and low floor and see what happens. Sanders could recruit the living fuck out of the states of Texas, Louisiana and Florida, which are as fertile as it gets, and continue what he's doing at Colorado. Yeah, they're losing games, but they're in them all but one. Even @GrandpaSankey can see he's leveled them up in year 1, haterade or no haterade.

If I'm A&M, I'd try that one on for a few seasons. Sanders already has money, and he's hungry to show people he can coach at this level, so he probably wouldn't make them break the bank - but even if he did, their bank is so fucking huge that it just doesn't matter.

It's hard to win at aTm because their fanbase and boosters are some of the worst human beings on the planet. They're convinced God is an Aggie despite decades of evidence to the contrary.

Money is the ONLY reason anyone should touch this job. Rob these fucktards blind and GTFO as quickly as possible.
 
Petersen's done. If he coached anywhere, it would be at some small school. But his FBS days are long gone. If he was burned out before, he'd absolutely hate it now.
