Kelee Ringo, 5* 2020 DB, Scottsdale (Saguaro), AZ (Offered 12/7/17)

It’s been over for him forever.

His mom will never let him go to UW and kids aren’t smart enough to look past the VASTLY SUPERIOR branding of TX vs WA.

Our Hail Mary shot is that Smalls gets in the boat and recruits the shit out of him, but I’m not holding my breath. It’s a 1/20 shot IMO.

I missed this about his mom. Why won’t she allow him to go to UW and Lake?

Everything seems in our favor: Lake recruiting and DBU development, NFL $$$, winning culture, former Seattle kid, B Murph and Saguaro coach enamored with Lake/Pete/UW, and FSP pipeline and peers.

What am I missing?
Feels like there's one obvious thing you're missing here

What's a first round NFL contract 4 years from now when you can get literally hundreds of dollars RIGHT NOW?

Some people don't feel that... It takes more work to get the important decision makers to understand and make the right choices.

But it can be done.

What we need is Byron Murphy flashing dubs on the podium with Goodell.

We need Budda baker to sign a huge contract in the next few years now that Mathieu signed a huge one after leaving the Arizona cards. Then flash the sweet ride while he's back in Jimmy lake's office during the off season. Same with smfj.

That resonates more than some guy in a burnt orange golf shirt trying to sell Texas....

Budda's entering his third year so as a second rounder he's under his rookie deal through the 2020 season. He won't be signing a new deal before Kelee picks a school.

Yeah, true.

But they know what's up. It's just the selling.

Having budda in the league already as a second rounder ready to get the next contract should sell better than a promise to develop and a small bag/coffee cup right now.

Kelee is fucking good, but I think our chances with him are less than 20%[/b].

Lake isn't Lambo - Kwat is Lambo. Or - to be fair to Kwat, Kwat is Solich, prolly - but you get my point.

Lake wants to be a HC and he should. I just don't want him to be a HC at USC or Oregon.

The reality is, USC makes a lot of sense for him...

I'm just hoping they cock up the hire and get Jeff Fisher or Jack Del Rio.

Being a HC is mostly about being a CEO. I don't have close enough knowledge to evaluate whether Jimmy is a good CEO or not. He's a fucking great position coach (though pretty much everyone looks like a great position coach under Pete) and he's a really good recruiter.

I'm not afraid of Cristobal's recruiting machine, though. Teams that recruit amazing are annoying because they can randomly whip your ass when they have a 'good game' (see us vs. USC 2016), but generally guys who are 'great recruiters' end up like Sark and Kiff did at USC... "you brought in all this talent, why are you getting beat by the 7th place team in the conference?!?!"

See - I don't JUST care about recruiting.

We aren't getting Kelee[/b] unless Sav'ell commits early and dedicates his life to recruiting him.

what an interesting and quick way to kill my morning boner

The only way we get him is if Sav'ell makes it his mission and somehow we can convince his mom that UW is going to be good for her kid.

I really hope we see Byron and Taylor go 1-2 for DBs, it would definitely help.
They're not going 1-2. Byron has what, maybe a 40% shot of being the first? He's probably the favorite but you almost always have to take the field, it's not like he's seen as some can't miss, top 5 DB type. I think Rapp makes it into the first round but I don't think it's likely he makes it all the way to the #2 DB.

If we need them going 1-2 to get Kelee, #HeGone.

Byron will be the first DB taken. Take screenshots if you want to. The only thing he's got against him is that the NFL sees him as a mostly zone corner, but he's the best DB in the class and it's not even close.

Greedy can't play the run. Baker is an average athlete. Deionte Thompson is hurt and played like shit vs. Clemson. Abram is overrated AF. Ya-Sin and JJ Williams are good but they're not going that high.

The only guy I could see maybe[/i] go over Byron is Nasir Adderley, but he's a small-school player and a safety so that's a long shot.

I follow the draft and I'm rarely a homer about these types things and I'd still be fucking shocked if Byron isn't the first DB taken.

Jeremiah mock has our guys going 2 and 4. He has Greedy as the first DB at 20 (Pit), Byron next at 27 (Oak), Adderley? at 28 (SD) and Rapp at 29 (KC).

Holland on his crystal ball:

Five-star cornerback Kelee Ringo made a surprise unofficial visit to Texas today. Ringo actually had no plans to visit Texas heading into the weekend. It wasn’t until after a conversation with offensive coordinator Tim Beck that sparked Ringo to catch a plane to Austin after competing in 7v7 in Los Angeles. Ringo wanted to keep the visit under wraps until he arrived on campus and got settled as he could be on the Forty Acres for an extended period of time.

I exchanged some messages with Ringo’s mother, Tralee Hale, who told me that Ringo actually doesn’t have a return flight — Ringo can fly around freely on standby since his mother works for an airline. He might stay in Austin for his entire spring break and catch practices throughout the week. Hale is supposed to be at Texas in the morning. She was trying to catch a flight tonight but was experiencing delays. This is a huge opportunity for Texas to make an impression on her.

Obviously, I have my Crystal Ball pick in for Texas. Ringo has visited UT more than any other program this offseason and loves what the Longhorns have to offer. He has a great connection with Beck and cornerbacks coach Jason Washington, and it’s no secret Texas has had plenty of success in Arizona. Oklahoma, Washington and Georgia are some other schools to watch, but this visit makes me feel even more confident in my pick.

Shit, at this point I'm encouraged just to see us listed. It's been awhile since we've even been that.

We need a pic of Byron Murphy being picked in the first round, then standing in sunglasses and gold chains next to a fancy car - to her twitter account.

With budda baker, Sidney mf Jones, Kev King, Taylor Rapp in the seats.

Remind her does she want a promise /dream? Or results?

You know when you were buying a car and you knew that getting a Toyota made a lot more sense than buying a BMW, but you wanted the BMW anyway?

UW is a Toyota.

To kids like Savvy it’s achieved Lexus status, maybe...

But Texas isn’t a fucking Lexus, it’s a Ferrari.

If you want to consistently get these types of kids, you have to be seen as competitive with a Ferrari on some level.

Ringo may think we are a Lexus too, but mom wants to live at the Ferrari dealership and it’s not a tough pill for Kelee to swallow.

Can we just put a Ferrari sign over the Toyota sign?

Real question DDY, marketing is a big one to help our national perspective, winning more and the big ones will also help; anything else so our skill prospects see us as Ferrari’s?

I think Jr will help a lot with WR’s. But top tier out of state 5 🌟’s like Ferrari’s.

Yes

Best thing that could happen for us is that the mirage of what Texas did last year falls back to reality and they go back to being 8-4 next year

7 of their 10 wins were by a TD or less

I’m not convinced that Herman is that good and there was a lot about watching them last year that screamed just above average

So we’ll see

dude texas is like USC. They are littered with great amount of talent and herman might be mediocre coach, but great talent can hide a lot of shit.

I’m not saying anything about TCU but Texas coming back to the top has as much to do with a lot of schools going backwards (Baylor and Tech, TCU may be as well) as anything that they are doing

Texas dreams of being USC ... they are basically a rich man’s UCLA and a poor man’s USC
