Cda has exactly what you are looking for, problem is it is still expensive af... but it is close to spokane who has direct flights to LA, and fairly close to Seattle and Portland if you need big city life for a bit... but is beautiful and close to amazing ness... glacier 4 hours, Banff 7 Yellowstone 8...

It is compared to California for sure, but still surprisingly expensive! Wish I moved here a few years ago!
