Dear Idahoan board superiority bros,

For various very obvious reasons my family is considering relocating to a free state from Californistan.

Idaho is on the short list. Looking for regional opinions and advice.

Two major requirements:

  • Regional airport somewhere near by to be able to fly to LAX.
  • Needs to be at least driving distance to a town large enough to support some sort reasonably sized childcare/school/etc.

So far have looked at Coeur d'Alene and Pocatello the most. Dad's family is from Malad. Probably wanting to avoid Boise for the same reasons we are leaving California.

I am camping in a town called Declo - Burnley is the largest nearby town, Twin Falls is the bigger city nearby. Cold, windy but people are nice.

Not much help and I am temporarily living here.

I got here before you, we are full.... lol. It's awesome up here! Cda has exactly what you are looking for, problem is it is still expensive af... but it is close to spokane who has direct flights to LA, and fairly close to Seattle and Portland if you need big city life for a bit... but is beautiful and close to amazing ness... glacier 4 hours, Banff 7 Yellowstone 8...
Love it!

CDA. Look to the acreages south of town. 95 north is a traffic shit show. Back way into Spokane is an easy shot to the airport.

GEG to SLC gets you anywhere in the country. GEG to SEA, anywhere international. Simple.

E Idaho is for sermon seekers and Mormons.

Boise now is essentially SoCal 20 years ago. It will be all blued up before you know it.

Is it true that if you build a neighborhood in W. Boise it must have a LDS Cathedral? Looked like it to me. Not hating, just an observation. RE prices are out of control.

Texas or Florida. Love the Hill Country between SA and Austin. I could do San Marcos but RE prices in the last year going up, up, up.

The Exodus did involve infestation. Good news is that apparently most Cali's moving to TX are Republicans. Maybe Idaho will luck out.

Pretty much this, if you've spent any time in the tug with me you realize where my family's politics stand.

CDA seems to be the refugee camp for OC libertarians fleeing.

Imo AZ and NV are the ones who are fucked and why I don't want to move to either. Dumbfucks getting out of California and then voting for the same shit they fled.

Even at current prices, compared to the beach in Orange County stuff is cheap.

Actually looked at buying a place in Kellogg a few years back. Didn’t end up making sense for other reasons.

The Throbber has season passes at Silver. Nice little resort without the pretentiousness that Schweitzer has embraced.

It is compared to California for sure, but still surprisingly expensive! Wish I moved here a few years ago!
