FSU had a loss, as did Miami and Washington. Oklahoma was the only undefeated team.
Washington beat Miami and Miami beat Florida State. That was a different animal. If any of those teams had been undefeated and been leapfrogged by one of the others, there would have been a huge fucking stink. It is often the case that there are teams that are playing well at year's end but who have a loss which holds them back. Using this group of teams to make the point, both Miami and Washington would have been shitty draws to play against in a bowl in 1990, but each team had two losses, so that was that. Nobody whined. Either team would likely have beaten G Tech, but Tech had no losses. Again, nobody whined. You can't drop 2 and complain later. In 2000, three teams had a loss, and they picked the worst one to play OU. Totally different scenario. Everybody knows Bama is hot and might run away with the whole thing. That's not a revelation.
