Is the bar really that low? Last year wouldn’t he have been behind Puka and McMillan? It’s a good get, but getting this excited should be a little worrisome

Puka and McMillan are different classes, but yes they are more highly rated than Bernard.

I'm trying to remember the last time we got a top 200 out of state commit this early in the process. It's certainly not common for us.

So critical to stack talent like this. As much as we all want to believe that each guy will hit their ceiling and spend 3-4 injury free, productive seasons at UW, the chances of that are pretty slim. Guys will get injured, not pan out, transfer, etc...which is why having a young crop of WR like this is so important. The ones that do pan out and "make it" will be guys with high ceilings and some elite ability.

I just wish more fans acutely understood this and didn't excuse poor recruiting results for other position groups. It's really simple - recruit like this, and the position group will be good every year. Just like DB, we lose guys every year but reload. It's why I hate when people get excited about a position that has recruited one elite guy in 2 years...putting all your hopes one guy developing and not getting injured is very risky.

Kind of reminds me of taller Kevin Smith. This kid is a more polished HS product so maybe he will touch his potential quicker than Smith did. If so, that would be a good get.
 
He has so much wiggle, it’s natural. He’s very likely going to get bigger too. He’s almost Troy level in that respect. Lock up Seattle and Vegas in 2022 and you got a top 8 class rather easily.
