Could not understand at all going back to Coleman. Like, normally when I say "I could coach better" I don't actually mean it and understand these guys forget more about football than I'll ever know.
But today I was literally like, "UW would be better off with me calling the plays because I'd pound Muhammed until they took it away and Coleman wouldn't see a single snap."

You're not wrong, but UW still loses. This was the "If Thurman Thomas runs for 100 yards we win" game plan from Oregon. Another 50 yards rushing from the prophet doesn't win the game. Demond picking up four 3rd and 10s with his legs while completing 75% of his passes at 9 YPA could.
You can't beat superior talented depth without winning the explosive play and turnover battles. The entire plan was to take the guy who plays, you know, the the most important position in team sports, out of the game. And it worked, just like it's worked for every single other team who was able to do it.

With just a passing interest in all this shit about one player, I'll just observe that you seem to be skipping over the injury part and you're assuming he has a big statistical year next season. Those are two assumptions I'm quite confident that DB isn't skipping over in doing his return-or-leave calculus.
I think the real risk, though, is that, for whatever reason, his production doesn't match or exceed what he did this year. That is a death sentence from a draft standpoint.
If I'm him, I don't make that bet unless I come from money.
Recall, too, the context in which Odunze was making his decision. He was returning to something that was clearly trending up and as I recall he explicitly said he was coming back to win a natty. Just my $0.02.
