other coaches have slipped and reinvented themselves. Don James comes to mind. But whatever; he left. It is what it is. The biggest loss he inflicted was his outward support for Jimmy as HC. He should have known better. Maybe he did and didn't care and did it for DEI points. Who knows?
He probably just wanted to keep as much of his staff intact as possible, knowing how he long he tolerated his guys even when they recruited like shit.
Kwiatkoski didn't/doesn't seem to want to be HC, Jimmy obviously wanted it, and no way in hell you can give it to any of the offensive assistants.
