Four loss DeBoer

Guys!! It doesn't matter what he's done at Bammer, only what he would have done at Washington w/o BPE!!
He's an infallible, proven winner and UW should have thrown $15,000,000 to $20,000,000 in monopoly money at him.
This ridiculous post makes me cringe. You hedged your bets and played it safe with your LIPO mantra and then he loses his bowl game (which I enjoyed) and now you're here crowing and beating your chest about it?
Be better, chief.
he’s not your chief, pal.
The first time I went golfing with @DerekJohnson a few years ago (hadn’t seen Stalin in person since 2019) I walked up and said “how ya doing, pal?”

he’s not your pal, I’m confident I can do this all day. It’s like tick-tac-toe

Player-wise…
23 Washington Offense > > 24 Bama
24 Bama Defense > > > > > 23 Washington
Interesting to see what Jalen Milroe does…if he decides to stick around for another year that’s not a good sign for DeBoner. And if he keeps his buddy Sheridan around for another year that’s not going to help him much either.

I couldn’t possibly disagree more with your characterization of my 2024 DeBoer position. I was here beating my chest after the Vandy loss, as it was an indication IMO that he was perhaps not infallible after all. Pull the threads.
I’ve also been consistent in questioning the narrative that it was possible for UW to keep him from going to Bammer.

4 loss DeBoer tells me we lost a good coach but not a HOF guy.
Don James started out 12-14 at UW and ended up in the HOF, though obviously in a much different scenario. But if we're going to give Fisch three years before rendering a verdict then DeBoer gets it too. Wouldn't surprise me to see Bama go 11-2 next year and then deep into the playoffs.
key points you made here being much different circumstances. James coached in a “build it” era. And when people thought the PNW was the wilderness and he had a significant uphill recruiting challenge, where you conceded the recruiting wars to USC and UCLA. An era during which the PAC 10 team with the senior QB had the inside track. all kinds of shit like that which made process and taking the long view critical.
it’s a quick man’s game today. I’ll say it again: nobody is program building anymore. It’s a fast food drive-through culture and game. People talk that bullshit like they’re doing something special but is just instagram post bullshit. it’s really just talent acquisition and having the smartest coordinators and go call the right plays.

You can still build a program. Saying you can't is retarded.
You need to both build a program and augment it with great transfers in the right places.
Over relying on the portal can fuck up chemistry if not done correctly

there is something rotten at UW if every AD and coach is bouncing as fast as they can. I don’t know how to fix it, upper campus might have finally won.
2 of the past 3 (prior hires) worked out pretty well.
3 conference titles over the past 8 years.

University Pres killed the Pac to move to B1G.

Seems like they still care about winning football games to my eye.
To @LoneStarDawg's point, those conference titles you refer to were by coaches who didn't stick around. Peterman starts winning consistently, has the football program humming… he promptly resigns. UW finally finds a winner in DeBoer… he leaves after only two fucking seasons. Not to mention Dannen leaving less than six months on the job. Something's going on behind close doors with this program because the turnover in the athletic departments is undeniable. We'll see how long Chun lasts, but I highly doubt he's around long.

I’m not liking the sample pool here @digits
Pete was here for 6 years and then burned out on college football. That’s not a UW thing. That’s a state of college football thing.

DeBoer got poached by the greatest program in the history of the sport.

Nuance has never been a HH strong suit

Excuses, excuses. UW has plenty of 'em.

Fuck nuance
It's the new perspective
I don’t even know how far I’d have to walk down a beach to gain nuance. Is it further than to gain perspective or shorter? And can it even be found on a beach. Or do we need something different. Like the Tiger Mountain trailhead, for example.

@digits is dialed. Petersen burned out prematurely. Jen, UW lifer, bounced, the bald fuck bounced in under 12 mo, Kalen did us dirty prepping papers during a natty run.

I’m not saying there is a huge institutional problem at UW, but if there was, this is what it would look like.

Peterman was the loss IMO. Wanted to be here because he likes the clean country of the PNW. Turned out to be a great recruiter. Probably would have been smart enough to eventually get out of his own way offensively. Dont know how he would have handled all this but could have been an institutional coach in an era where those are hard to come by.

He said on the Apple Cup pregame show that he realized he was slipping hard as a coach in 2019. I don't think it would have mattered where he was coaching at that point.
