Extend Fisch

I don’t care if he gets an extension or not. Most of the money talk is just talk. Money gets found when needed.

I don’t think he’s going to leave. I don’t want him to either. If UW feels the need to give him more money, great. I don’t think they do and can push all of this off for another year.
Delightfully oversimplified. Either way it will be interesting?

It’s never been interesting. Fans complaining about what coaches are paid is stupid. They are overpaid. Get over it.

I remember people on here crying about Jonathan Smith getting paid 800k for being a shitty OC. The offense sucked if he was working for free. Why would I care what he get paid? I expect Fisch to have playoff seasons regularly starting next year. I expect that whether he gets a raise or not.

I don't know how many recruits sold on Washington would want to go 3,000 miles away to Gainesville.
A few, sure. But that is pretty fucking different.

I think recruits are sold on coaches first. Yeah, they may like Washington once they get here, but if the coach they liked in the first place — and his promises of playing time — heads to Gainesville, Tuscaloosa, Chapel Hill, etc., they're likely to follow if they get a chance.

Yes. Not every kid is the same, but for the most part the kids follow coaches, especially if they are good players. If Fisch left, chances are high that most of our good players would also bolt.

He's got nowhere else to go
No raise until he makes the playoffs

Hmmmm. That might be photoshopped.

Some here are still shell-shocked by what happened after DeBoer bolted but that was a very different time and UW was behind in building its NIL program (and the House Settlement hadn't happened).
I don't think Fisch leaves this year unless it happens to be for the NFL (Arizona Cardinals?) but if he did leave for anther college program, UW would have a much better chance of holding onto its players after what happened last time.

UW was not behind in NIL with DeBoer
Everyone coming back from 2022 was due to NIL and most sources online had us on the verge of top 10 nationally.

UW was behind in spending crazy money though, which is one of the bigger reasons why some of the players who could have come back in 2024 went to Ole Miss (both starting OGs). From a well placed source, Ole Miss paid at least 2x what UW was willing to pay. Bernard, Cuevas, Brailsford, and Mack were going to leave with DeBoer regardless.
I don't think UW fought to keep Asa Turner or a few other guys but Phil Knight was opened up his wallet for Jabbar Muhammed.

The Jabbar Mohammad to Oregon thing was a head scratcher if I'm a duck fan. I mean, he was good … maybe … but Oregon definitely overpaid on that one.
5-9 DBs need to be special. He wasn't.

Im a strong believer UW pays for proven talent. Boston will be back next year book it
