I've said the cause of autism and other birth defects may have both: multiple reasons for the cause; and not enough information to clearly delineate a cause. You still clearly aren't following along, or processing the logic with those caveats.

While the diagnostic rate has increased rapidly as of late (nobody should disagree) the rules and symptoms defining autism have been evolving and more inclusive as well.

So how does one compare the changing rates of a disease who's definition evolves to include behaviors not identified previously? No inference can be made (with any precision) on a dataset who's criteria changes by the decade. Comparing autism rates to 30 years ago is worthless when "autism" wasn't defined the same in 1985.....
