Carson Bruener quote

The Duck Way is to pay for a veteran QB who will have more than 60 games under his belt by the time he "graduates." Seems to work pretty well. Why change now? It's not like money is limited or anything.
Is there any reason Washington can’t do that? Has it not done that? If not, why not?
If there is a QB out there who fits the mold and who UW can afford, absolutely.
Williams will need to be pushed.
What I'm asking is, given the NIL spend estimates that have been disclosed by the NCAA, Washington isn't that far behind Oregon in spend. If that's true, then what is the problem? Why haven't they done it? Did they get the kid sitting on the bench now for free? Was he not paid?
I honestly don't understand all the "we can't afford it" talk. Does anyone here actually know the spend or the budget and the spend?
No
Oregon has an entire administration and infrastructure devoted to recruiting and winning. That's how you get buy in
Washington's problem isn't money it's the retardation of fucking shit up every couple years
That's not a good investment

people here don’t want to admit it what the real reason is. Same with usc fans. It’s just easier to say “that kid chasing the bag” instead of acknowledging the real issues

There's a shit load of reasons Washington has struggled with stuff like this for a long time that people talk about. Didn't Dong James introduce Reagan at a function and that really started the downfall of the progrum?
Has anyone ever read a thread here? I do know we had a guy transfer from UW to Oregon and he said he did it because they paid him enough to pay his bills and he had to drive Door Dash to survive at UW and it became a UW troll meme.
I thought long and hard and I thought the best source to go to figure out what the issues and advantages are with all this stuff and decided anonymous Oregon online trolls were the best source and they all tell me it has nothing to do with money so that's my stance now.

Well, you can say the same thing with a tweak: I thought online posters talking shit on a Washington fb forum would be the best source. It looks like Washington spending is "in the mix." Not a $20 million roster, but few probably are. Is the real issue that it's spending it poorly? I'm asking. Nobody ever asks the question. This "we're poor" talk seems unsubstantiated as far as I can tell. I also think it's a first cousin to "we're doing the right way" and goes back to a fan favorite pastime of moralizing failure and assuming the other guy is successful only because he's willing to cheat.
Would anyone here care if it turned out that last season was the product of sound (and lucky) spending?

On3 ranking has a column for "Average NIL". No idea where they're getting these data, but UW is about 30% of Oregon’s average.
It could be that UW spends more per player in the portal, if, indeed, their budget is about the same as Oregon’s.

I think there’s a lot of “all of the above” when talking about UW’s inability to sustain a championship level football program. I do think they are working with considerably less $$$ than the top-tier programs (hi ducks), but I also think there is plenty of $$$ available to the program if the people with the $$$ were convinced it wouldn’t be wasted due to the school having an administration that doesn’t value its football program.

Wasn't it like three years ago that UW was selling 401ks as their NIL because they wanted to be above board? I remember it was to the point that people were saying we were gonna lose recruits to the Coug because it was easier to actually get money there.
I'll listen to the hey there's nothing stopping you from UW spending more money hypothetically, sure, but you legit have a recruit publicly saying just insane shit like Phil Knight is gonna help him make a shoe? That's not replicable.

The biggest question is why the fuck are we wasting money on our shitty basketball program?

THIS.

Your post also made me think of this $45 million gift UW Law recently received:

Estate of Stan and Alta Barer makes transformational gift to UW School of Law to support global sustainable development program

It's their own made up valuation based on, get this, social media followers. No joke. Aside from it being a joke. It literally has nothing to do with actual NIL values.

I really hope Oregon is dumb enough to not portal in a QB. If they brought in, say…Mateer, then we’re all fucked again.
Seems like the most logical destination, pretty sure Mateer has two seasons of eligibility remaining as well.

Cuog just lost their OC to Okie.

Package deal for oil money with Mateer.

John Mateer reportedly plans to enter transfer portal. Could Wazzu QB land with OU?

It's just such a lazy troll take after MPJ and Poor Man's Brownshorts combined for 11 years of CFB.

I think it is likely that someone other than Moore — someone not currently on Oregon's roster — will start next season as QB for the Ducks. I wouldn't put money on it being Moore, that's for sure.
coaches really like Moore. I’d put it at -110 on either side.
What else do you expect them to say on a 12-0 run? Nobody tells the truth and the truth would definitely hurt team moral plus he’s your backup.

Give me odds? Oregon doesn't bring in a transfer QB you give Derek $60. They do, I do $20.
@TheHB Pay up motherfucker.
