B1G vs SEC

A lot of dominoes haven't dropped well for the SEC Dawg in recent years. Saban retiring. Georgia quickly cooled off as a first round factory. LSU down. Florida down for a long time. Texas and Oklahoma haven't injected as much as you would expect. Big 10 got a punch by adding Oregon.

What are those numbers if the school where the 1st rounder spent the majority of their eligibility is counted instead?
Mendoza counting fully for Indiana and zero for Cal doesn't feel right. Not sure how many others would fall in the same boat.
(I'll give Indiana a chunk of credit for Mendoza no doubt but not full)

It is quite a commentary on where the best players are playing though.

I think these numbers are where the NFL players went to HS/grew up. Mendoza would count for Florida as he grew up and went to school outside of Miami.

Meh….Cool those jets, POD. It’s high time another conference gets a little love after all the DOMINANCE.

It can shift back this year. Starting with baseball. Think any BIG BIG BIG team is going to oust SEC SEC SEC baseball??

I didn’t think so. Hold those horses. This is a “thing” because of SEC dominance in past years in football. It’s like, “holy shit!! WTF?!!..”this really happened??”” As the OP title implied…

Meh, BIG has won the last few NC’s and deserves the accolades of that in football. No excuses. But let’s absolutely, fkn NOT, count us SECDAWGs out. Just yet.

Ever heard of don’t kick a dog when he’s down?? May come back to bite ya???

LIPO. Kinda one of those things…just let sleeping dawgs lie…

Just keep winning and slip around under the radar. Don’t kick the DAWG.

I knew Louisiana was iNSaNE for recruiting but these numbers are staggering, along with the other poverty southern states. B1G money > SEC money is the difference.
Yeah the southern states per capita are truly insane and I've said this for years when people using the now cliche line of how it's just everyone can pay now. The SEC has had a long regional advantage for a while. Especially with defensive linemen. Washington being below Oregon and Alaska with this number is really bad. Instate talent has been a struggle for a long time.

SEC schools are losing a lot of these kids to the B1G, though. Especially some of the top talent, as seen with the 1st round this year (first time in a long time SEC wasn't 1st in 1st rounders). Pay for play + portal took away a large chunk of their advantage. No more stockpiling 5 stars in the 3 deep just to keep them away from competitors.

Give the weakness of the states of Oregon and Washington at producing players it really is for the best that OSU and WSU went down to G5.

I know what you're saying, but there are only two guys from SEC country who went Big 10 in the first round of this draft, and one of those is Mendoza, who is kind of a weird case. It seemed like a good year for Pac-12 country guys in the first too - four OL from the area.
