Announcement on the Future of Hardcore Husky

After 13 years with Vanilla, I have decided it is time to find Hardcore Husky a new home. Relations with Vanilla have deteriorated so badly that I feel left with no choice. As we all know, the product quality delivered by Vanilla since July has been frustrating and subpar. August in particular was a shitshow, which coincided with my annual fundraiser and impacted it negatively. The frenetic screen jumping and malfunctioning buttons made the site at times unusable.
Currently, I do not see any indication from Vanilla that they wish to do what is necessary to get the remaining flaws fixed. In fact, a manager who told me in July she was taking the reins and would make sure that everything got fixed abandoned the project in September without saying a word to me. She simply stopped responding to emails. It left me reaching out to other departments looking for someone to finish the job. There's more to the story but it's not important anymore. The bottom line is that I prepay for this product each January 1st and I do not wish to go through another 12 months like we just had.
There are certain frontline people at Vanilla that I have worked with for years that I really appreciate. They have always been responsive and helpful.
As it is, we will be making the transition to a new home early next week, either Monday and/or Tuesday. We might be down for a few hours, I'm not sure of the exact schedule yet.
I am very happy with the trial run I did with our new home. Among things that you guysm will like will be the ability to embed X links without having to sit there typing "Twitter.com" all the time. You'll be able to just paste the link into your post and click one button — voila!
I realize that none of us like having routines disrupted and losing the familiar. Especially some of our more autistic and easily-triggered posters. But the past six months have been incredibly frustrating for moi behind the scenes and it is time for a change.
There are always risks involved with leaving the devil you know for the devil you don't know. But Geocities is a trusted name in the business and I like what I've seen so far.*

*Okay, I'm just kidding about the Geocities part. Just wanted to see if I could induce a stroke from our friend dtd. He's probably writing me an enraged PM as we speak.
I'm actually paying more to the IT guy to wait until the 15th to do this because I didn't want to disrupt our enjoyment of the LA Bowl. So this weekend will be one last Game Thread hurrah with the ol' Vanilla format.
Thank you all who have supported the site as we prepare to enter a new era— in this, our 14th year. Holy fuckall!

I get the jab, but I take what I do seriously and just want what's best for the site. It's been going downhill for a very long time. They clearly have product owners who don't know or care, and you deserve better.
The thing that makes me mad is that every time you regurgitate their lies e.g. "we can't re-implement editing quotes" I'm trying to help and then YOU get mad. Ask haie. Just fork a branch, cherry pick, whatever. These are tiny easy things that they could do and they keep lying to you and you keep (kept) eating it.
The character limit thing is absolutely insane. It has nothing to do with character limits, it's a horrific bug that they don't give a shit about and then display some wrong ass error message for. We had 5 million character limits 35 years ago.

This is a legacy site with a bunch of old JavaScript and stylesheets where the original developers are assuredly gone and current teams they've been told not to add features to.
The character limit thing you're absolutely correct on. They're patching over work they don't want to do.

I haven't gotten mad even once. That's you projecting. I have gotten irritated by you repeatedly sending me profanity-laced screeds at 1AM or posts over the same thing over and over when I had already answered you many times about it.

Someone just emailed me asking about if there's anything posters need to do to prepare for the change this week. No, there's nothing that needs to be done. The IT guys are saying they need to see the data dump from Vanilla before knowing for sure if posters can simply just log right back in and start posting on the new site. I am assuming that will be the case but I'm not sure until they get a chance to review the info.

Don’t worry. @NSADawg has a complete clone of the entire site.

Middle of the store?!
I like it.

Hopefully it's smoother than doogman's 2012 transition to Fox.

I know you're being sarcastic but even though I've never been I do know many people from their and in my experience it's probably the highest rated city by people that have lived their

No idea about Montreal though

So still from Bangalore?

Yes that is dtd's job, is to "care"
It's not to ship code, it's not to generate new revenue, it's not to fix anything when your new massive customer goes live.
It's to "care" about the situation...🤯
