Pretty much any historical novel by Gore Vidal.
 
Not really a novel, but the guy from The Most Dangerous Game is my idol. I'd love to live on an island and hunt people.

Also, LotR is the GOAT. Lord of the Flies is also good.

Thomas Harris' Silence of the Lambs was a great one.
One of the few that actually was made into a good movie
 
I also found Dean Koontz to be much more fun to read than Stephen King in that category.

I like to read biographies, autobiographies, and personal accounts mostly.

I’m sorry, but Catch 22 is a massive piece of shit. The larger theme is ruined by the incessant puns. It basically reads like a Dr Seuss book without the trippy illustrations crossed with some Marx Brothers camp. This is like Dexter for me; everyone else seems to love it, and I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. But that’s just me.
