Pacifico is my go to, now and forever. Quick story…
Back in the early 80's, just out of school, my boys and I hung out at a bar, and became friendly with one of the owners. He would vacation yearly in Mexico, usually by boat, out of San Diego. One year, he came back to town and told us he had something for us. We came in, and one of the servers delivered Corona Extra, ice cold, with a plate of lime wedges.
We all looked at each other like "WTF is this?"…he came to the table, showed us the deal (squeeze lime, dunk lime, thumb on top to float it, over the shoulder) and we were in…it drove people crazy…"What are those? Can I have one of those?"…Like we say, NO. He had a big plastic garbage can in his office, filled with ice and water, and refilled frequently. We drank them most of the summer, gratis. This was my intro to Mexican beer, and by the time it got to 'Merica, we were over it.
One of my lasting memories of the guy was at an Apple Cup in Pullman, at the Coug post-game, he was unable to speak any legible English word, but "Corona"…RIP JB…(side bar: he WAS THERE on May 4, 1970 in Kent, Ohio)…
I became a Pacifico guy, fucking bury them in Mexico, all day long. Will occasionally do Modelo up here, but I'm not much of a beer guy anymore…
