Your Cadillac has a wheel in the ditch

Bama is unencumbered by the raw feelings here. They look at the totality of his record and how he followed a legend. They see the only coach to win playoff games at two schools. They know what he did here and unlike Washington are willing to pay precisely because most coaches suck

Fisch didn't get the offers he wanted elsewhere. Why would he get a raise here for being average and beating up cupcakes?

Now in year 3. Playoffs or get the fuck out for both

I'd go long on DeBoer and short Fisch

We'll see.
I don't think you say anything inaccurate here, but why would Alabama now give DeBoer a raise based upon what he did at UW and the Little Sisters of the Poor NAIA school he previously won at? He has not achieved those results at the preeminent program in America and they gave him a raise and an extension when he was already under contract thru 2030. Does not add up. And it doesn't seem like they're too worried about another program hiring him away with a buyout of only $10 million. That's pocket change in modern CFB.

I could be off base here but I believe the 10 million buyout is what someone would owe Alabama to poach DeBoer. If Alabama fires him they owe him 12+ million, times however many years are left on the deal. He got a 2 million dollar raise per year for going 20-8. A crazy thought for blue blood Alabama. That’s the crux of Yellas admonishment. Worse yet, Fruit Snacks at Nebraska panicked and gave Rhule a big raise and extension for going .500 in his three years.

Somehow after last seasons coaching carousel Chum managed to keep a cool head and let Judds contract ride. Impressive really. If he goes 10-2 this season he’ll have earned a fat raise. If they go 8-4 again, he’ll be earning exactly what he’s producing. Average numbers.
Yeah, if he's fired after next season, they owe him $67.5 million. Apparently the contract states 90% of remaining salary.

So, this didn’t save Bama money, it made it worse for them to fire him but easier for DeBoer to leave if he wants. Lose-lose

It's pretty obvious. In the 2010's it was pretty much impossible for them to go down to the level of Auburn in that division. Now, that's just one mediocre hire away.

DeBoer looks like he can't get through to a team to not be soft at times. But he sure as hell isn't going to coach them down to Auburn's current level.

DeBoer is a Rich Rod type of coach. Put him the Big 12 and he will compete near the top and have great offenses. He hit it big at UW with the right mix of talent and Penix. I hate to compare UW to West Virginia but those teams were good, but would blow a game late in the year. UW squeaked a bunch out.

He’s a good coach. He’s also not built for the big leagues.

That's a pretty damn good comparison. He would have been pretty fucking dangerous at UW in the old Pac 12.

I have never thought different

They don't always act like it. And fans lap it up

They played for the national championship 2 years ago and now we have a cult of personality for recruiting and the NFL draft with our CEO.
