WOOF - Jr Day

In before we get 20+ pages relitigating the Apple Cup, Rutgers, and Frosted Flakes bowl results.

Wonder if Tafa still takes his official visits. I think "we" got the kiss of death of I think Doogman saying his mom told them she would choose him to go to UW right now.
I assume USC is throwing a lot of cash at recruits to commit and generate some program momentum. I'm not saying that in a doog way like we're better than that or shouldn't be doing that.
I'll just be a doog here and say that everything smells like yeah, Riley could break out this year now that it's year 2 of a decent DC and corrected some mistakes here and there, but it looks like they're really desperate now that it's clear that him, Jen, and possibly Musselman are looking like busts. Go throw another 15 mil on players to justify your 12+ mil coach that is winning 7-8 games.
If SC has a breakout, playoff season this year the media and talking heads will forget that the last two years of Riley ever happened. Hype train refueled...
Something has been up at USC. Even when they were mediocre under Kiffin and Sark they still recruited and had talent. They haven't recruited the way they used to in years and being mediocre for so long has caught up with them. Unfortunately, Oregon has capitalized on it and UW hasn't really done shit other than basically be USCesque outside of 2022-23 and even then, we still recruited like we were Cal.
Something is up for sure. Oregon dethroned them as the top recruiting draw in the West. I don't know how much of that is cause and how much is effect.

Oregon was beating USC in recruiting under Chip. It's not a recent thing. It's not luck either

Huh? Oregon doesn't have a single class ranked higher than USC by 247 in any of those years and a lot of times it's not even close. Getting De'Anthony Thomas away from USC gets a lot of clout. From what I remember, Oregon's recruiting under Chip was kind of underwhelming given their brand and amount of success at the time and his hatred of recruiting got called out. They did pull some nice big pieces though. It's not a coincidence their recruiting has taken major steps forward since public bags became legal.

8-3 since 07
On field results beat recruiting championships
Huh
Which is why I'm not buying the Fisch recruiting deal until he can get results on the field
I don't care if DeBoer couldn't recruit. He could win

USC has been ultra soft against Oregon yeah but you said they were beating USC in recruiting which is just not true in the TBS rankings. Chip and Helfrich taking lower rated try hard guys who really helped carry their water over the years was an underrated aspect of the program though.

If they are beating them on the field they are beating them in recruiting
Same goes for the Dawgs
They were better than both Oregon and USC in 22 and 23

You've moved these goal posts here so many times you might as well throw them in that river like Vandy at this point.

Ducks started really hanging their hats on crooting with Taggart. Before him it was Chip’s revolutionary offense/methodology (e.g. being obsessed with urine samples).

I said Oregon was beating USC in recruiting
You brought up rankings
When have I ever cared about recruiting rankings?
UW isn't a recruiting school but has 2 playoffs
As does Oregon
USC zero

I think Rankings absolutism is dumb too, depending on who's doing the ranking, but we were definitely not beating Oregon in recruiting on any level during the DeBoer years which is why their fans couldn't even shut the fuck up as a group of 500 people watching their team play Liberty.

Trust me, I'm not a rankings absolutist at all and think that's always been clear. I think this is funny reasoning. So was Montana outrecruiting UW?
Unfortunately the open public bags has really stepped up Oregon's recruiting in the past few years and at a bad time because we've drug ass since Petersen left. They had some smoke in mirrors during the Petersen years where we were out recruiting them, but they've stepped up from there and, combined with the portal, it will be hard for them not to just always be good.
