I was up late and tried to watch the US last night but had a yellow screen on Fox. WTF?
No matter. The US team sucks. They can't hang with the good teams athletically, can't deal with the physical (dirty) play they are allowing, and don't have a killer that makes things happen up front. I caught parts of the Netherlands game and the Dutch were by far the better team.
Why post this? Well, like I said I couldn't sleep last night. Thinking it was ok, I'd just be patriotic and fall asleep to the game. Instead I got an hour of US women pissing and moaning about the media and fans daring to criticize them for sucking when *we? have never had to endure their plight (you know, the plight where they get coddled and stroked and fawned over by the media for weeks on end and are forced into athletic competition).
Just a little rant. DGAF about it, but if I'm forced to pick a team it's going to be one of the hottie filled northern Europe skwads or the Japanese who look pretty fast and fun out there.

I’m rooting for Brazil. Probably won’t watch much because the skill level is equivalent to men’s semi pro (4th/5th tier shit). REAL football starts next month.
Imagine watching women's soccer. It's August. Go fly a kite or something.

I don't care about the pay structure. I'm talking about importing the worst, most boring sport on the planet from the poor, socialist countries. Its popularity is based upon being cheap and easy for the poors to play, not the sport actually being enjoyable to watch.

It was developed in the most powerful nation in the world at the time and popularized by european countries. Ideology really doesn’t play a role in why the sport is big and neither does affordability. It costs a lot of money to maintain the facilities needed to develop talent past kicking a grapefruit in Brazil. It’s popular because people like the sport. In fact, capitalism and private enterprise enabled the pro clubs to absorb those costs and offer free training and schooling to anyone who can make the cut.

My dads dropped a shit ton of cash for me, before I discovered drugs and pussy, to play year round and travel a lot. I’ve found that the majority of soccer fans I know have played. I can definitely see how others have negative opinions on it but fuck em.
It's always fun watching people reach and flail in an effort to prove they're right to hate soccer.
It's ok if you just hate it. I get it. I hate basketball, nascar, and wrestling "entertainment". I don't need to support my position. That shit just doesn't do anything for me.

I was lucky enough to win state playing for a rich guy who retired in his 30s. He generously subsidized the team. Later he ended up as the academy director for the Sounders. He had the talent to manage a professional club but never pursued that. Then I discovered how easy it was to get laid by being in a band lol.
