I'm not a Hook, but if you put Wilson on the Rams and Goff on the Hawks you are looking at a shiny trophy in LA right now while Seattle is drafting in the top-10 of the 1st round.

I really think there is a change in thinking with NFL teams. Teams are starting to realize you’re sometimes better off drafting a QB and having him at a low number and stacking your roster.
That’s what the Seahawks originally did with Russell Wilson. That’s what the Eagles did, and it’s why the Rams did last year. The Bears are attempting to do it, but Trubisky sucks.

No team lets the franchise qb walk. It's as much about business selling tickets and jerseys as it is actually winning titles. They do neither of those without Wilson around, and the odds of hitting it lucky on another rookie QB are extremely slim. They also don't have a historic defense to carry another developing QB to a title.

6-7 highest paid QBs didn't make the playoffs Last year. The last time the highest paid qb made it to the SB....2006 Peyton Manning.
Russell went to the SB's on a rookie deal with an amazing defense. Rookie contracts have a great track record.
Tom has always has a friendly QB contract.
Good for Russell. Highest paid player and most guaranteed money ever.

He's not going to be the highest paid for very long.
And Brady is the massive outlier. His wife is worth hundreds of millions so he's taken significantly less money. Manning never did what he's done, not Rodgers, not Favre, not Brees, not Big Ben, none of the other elite QB's.
When Russ signed his last deal he was the second highest paid QB. By last year he was the 12th highest.
He'll be out of the top 5 before the deal actually even kicks in at the start of 2020.

Yep.
Rodgers has been secretly bad (and often injured) the last couple of years and they were horrifically coached for a very long time.
They're not a good team. This doesn't exactly prove that having a highly paid QB is a death sentence.
I'll say this, if your highly paid QB can't stay healthy you're in big trouble. If Russ has many seasons like he did in 2017 the Hawks will be fucked. He's been a lot healthier throughout his career than Rodgers has though and he has an insane work ethic so odds are better in his favor.
I do wish he'd muscle down a bit and get some mobility back but the added muscle might be part of why he's been able to take the hits as well as he has.
