Why would UCLA want Fisch?

@ WoolleyDoog
Under James Franklin (2014–2025), Penn State consistently recruited at a top-15 national level, expanded its reach beyond Pennsylvania into the South and Midwest, and built strong pipelines in Maryland, New Jersey, and Virginia. His tenure produced multiple top-10 classes, highlighted by elite prospects like Saquon Barkley, Micah Parsons, and Drew Allar. However, after Franklin’s firing in October 2025, Penn State’s recruiting classes began to unravel, with several high-profile decommitments A to Z Sp... +3.
📈 Recruiting Successes Under Franklin
• National Expansion: Franklin modernized Penn State’s recruiting, leveraging social media and NIL to attract talent nationwide.
• Top Classes:• 2018 class ranked No. 6 nationally, featuring Micah Parsons (5-star LB).
• 2022 class ranked No. 6 nationally, headlined by Drew Allar (QB, 5-star).
• Multiple classes finished in the top 15, keeping Penn State competitive with Ohio State and Michigan.
• Star Players Landed:• Saquon Barkley (2015) – became an NFL star.
• Micah Parsons (2018) – NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.
• Drew Allar (2022) – centerpiece QB recruit.
• Regional Pipeline: Maintained dominance in Pennsylvania while expanding into talent-rich areas like Maryland (via the “DMV pipeline”) and New Jersey.

We just lost to Wisconsin and Penn St is still in a worse position as a national title contender going into the year.

If National Championships are the goal, why the fuck would you even consider a retread like Franklin who couldn’t do it at Penn State?
It’s not like he was coaching at Iowa or Maryland. I’ve also spent time at State College and that place does everything a coach could possible want when it comes to supporting the football program. At a place like UW, he’s JAG.

It was funny watching interim Franklin lose to Indiana the way Franklin would lose to Ohio State and Michigan and now Oregon
Down to the wire
I also think that Penn State talent is over rated

if Franklin can’t win at Penn State, how the fuck is he gonna do it here?
Fuck Franklin. That’s a stupid ass suggestion
He won two playoff games last years and 5 NY6 in the last 8 years. That's a lot of hardware.

K, this is where I pivot again. He got BSU and SMU. It's utterly disingenuous to leave that out. And ND beat UGGA because Carson Beck (I KNOW I KNOW) was out. Neither Penn State nor ND are there without extreme luck. Neither of them deserved to be there, and both were perfect illustrations of why the expanded playoff is absolute idiocy.

Cool. So he wasn’t good enough to win a national title. The most important hardware.
So in 138 seasons Penn State has won 2 National Championships. That’s 1.45% and seem elite to me. Or maybe we should not be using championships as the metric ?

This.
At least Sark could score 20 on the road and lose by 20
Jedd is wasting a great fucking defense
The defense is exceedingly pedestrian. Nothing "great" about it.
They havent given up more than 24 even with a retarded offense that gives them no breathing room....
They also haven’t played a great offense.
Are there any in the sport this year? Doesnt seem like it
