I'm not going to list out the multitude of people I'd rather have but I'd rather take someone who comes from a lower program that is winning or Eck. The only previously fired in college coach I'd ever hear out is Mora and I'm even that interested in that.
The guy is very Sandy after admitting he might get roasted for mentioning Tosh especially considering Oregon’s head coach is actually the DC similar to Fisch.

So…20 miles away from campus in the opposite direction of their current stadium that is also 20 miles from campus.
Tosh Lupoi could be a worse head coach than Jimmy Lake. Oregon fans would laugh and have a party if we did that and I'd be so pissed I would join them and stop going to UW games. I would retch at hiring Will Stein, but he would be a way better option than Toah or whatever you called him.
Since you're so insistent, here is a short list of coaches who I think would listen before I thought about fired guys like Franklin and Napier: Eck, Bob Chesney (current JMU), Matt Campbell (again), Drinkwitz, Kirby Moore, Wilcox (seriously), Brian Hartline types.
If we talked fired or basically fired guys I'd consider David Shaw and Mora before Franklin.

Bob Chesney has never coached at a major program, Campbell has a cyclone boner, Drinkwitz and Hartline would never come here,
Kirby Moore is an interesting one though. At least he’s from here (kinda) and would understand what he’s getting himself into.
I'd be delighted to see Tosh go, but perhaps he would make a good CEO as head coach. He's experienced and probably has the connections to put together a good staff, and he recruits at a high level. He can walk into a recruit's living room and say "I learned from Nick Saban and I'm good at Fortnite". I still don't think you hire a first time head coach who isn't a rock star.
I doubt Stein is experienced enough as a coach, period, to lead a program, especially if he's still going to call plays. He was coaching HS 6 years ago.
