Why SMU over Houston?

I don't get it. SMU is a small private religious based school which is maybe fourth in followers in the greater Dallas area. Houston is a large school, rated higher than wsu, is in a population area that is greater than 7 million. Lock up southern Texas. It's a much better move for any TV deal. It's a great recruiting area. What the hell are they thinking?
