Why is it that so many on the left fell for the Jussie Smollett story

I think the bigger question is why the left doesn't back verifiable instances of racism. Hardly any news on the Waukesha massacre, no investigation actually who leads the Asian Hate stats, or when Jews are beaten up in the streets of NYC.

Flip that and we’d still have rioting in the streets and a “national dialogue” demanded. Dishonest people will deny that this story has been purposely suppressed.

Bingo. It's why the broken windows policy toward policing was so effective. Allowing a climate of disorder and chaos to exists only invites more crime, disorder and chaos. The explosing in smash and grab robberies and homocides is a direct result of what the left allowed to happen in the summer of 2020. But our minimum wages laws are the real problems.

Because, unless the "racism" can advance them politically, they have no interest in it. It's why they don't give a fuck about blacks being murdered by other blacks, there's no gain for them with that. But let a white person, especially a white cop, kill a black person and they're OUTRAGED.

It has a lot to do with seeing everything as a zero-sum-game. Economics, education, health, financial security, etc. Too many believe the only way to get these things is to deny or take them from others. Take Advanced Classes in Education. Too many whites and Asians excelling, so what's easier? Pushing more other kids into the programs, or eliminating those programs in hopes of keeping the high performers in the same demo as the average and below average kids.

Look at the arguments about Reparations. Same thing. All White folks got rich off slave labor, or at least participating and benefitting in a white supremacist system that bestowed specific advantages specifically upon them. No white kid ever worked as hard as a non-white kid in school, suffered as much hardship and oppression, struggled with broken family issues, etc. Too bad. Take anything that kid has earned and give it to a non-white kid, because slavery or some other historical slight. It's a zero-sum mind trap that teaches kids to believe all opportunity is finite and can only be appropriated, not expanded or created. Life is nothing but a series of hookups and handouts from a finite batch of goods.

What a way to see the world. Yet today, it's incredibly prevalent.

This is the basic premise of capitalism. In a free competitive environment, both parties to a trade are wealthier after the trade. I get what you don't need as much as you need what I have and vice versa. So, you can see the massive amount of wealth that has been created in the US since the 1800s when the US was largely a subsistence level farming community. When the slobberer believes in the labor theory of value, then there will be no wealth created because the state will ban free trade as the trade is seen as theft.

Always been that way. In late May of 1974 at the Oregon library I was behind then Oregon law school student Ron Wyden (never passed the bar) at the copy machine. He hit me up about whether I wanted to help him on Wayne Morse's Senate 1974 campaign (he lost his Senate seat in 1968 to Bob Packwood and wanted it back). I'd run into Morse at various events and I told Wyden that since 1972, Morse was a shell of his former self. Wyden told me that he saw Morse every day and he was the sharpest person he knew. Morse died that summer in July. Wyden knew that Morse was sick but was happy to lie to me about it. Phucker has been a lifetime government tit sucker since 1980 when he got elected to Congress. Still is a rocket scientist compared to Oregon's Merkley and Washington's Murray, but they all lie like a rug and hate this country.
