Why do people watch the fourth and fifth tier bowl games?

I'm honestly curious here. I'm not going to bother watching Tulane and UCF, which are both top 25 teams. Why would I watch the Toilet Bowl with 6-6 Bowling Green and 7-5 Southwest Florida Atlantic Barber's College?

They need to kill 2/3 of these stupid games.

Because once they're over, there isn't anything else worth watching until April. It's hard...letting go of CFB right as dark winter has set in. I'm depressed just thinking about it.

Any college football > no college football.

It’s my last gasp of being a selfish parent/husband. After CFB I’m required to resume a full share of parenting duties. I slack horribly during the season and my wife lets me. The bowl games extend my time away from my wife and kids. That time is important to me. I’ll be back to sharing in the taking my kids to piano, martial arts, basketball, softball etc. making dinners, lunches, laundry. I’m really a very invested parent/husband for 9 months out of the year.

Bad college game >>> good NFL game

What are you going to watch instead?

Youtube, Netflix, other tv, read a book, do crap I've been putting off for months

I haven't bet since last winter, but if I'm going to, I want to at least have a little knowledge and familiarity with the teams. If it's a MAC team versus Memphis or something, there's none.

Right, and that's great for you. For others, any decently matched football game can be fun to watch. That's why people watch HS football and NFL games.

As long as TV ratings are good, we'll continue to have 40+ bowls each year

Coming clean here: I’ve watched none of the shitfest so far outside of part of SJSU playing Eastern Michigan while eating lunch at a bar one day. Some brutal gaymes so far.

So we that can crush the power 5 teams that lose them.

Quitter USC vs Tulane in a NY6 is a fucking abortion.

Nothing else better to do in my case

Did you watch Coastal Carolina against ECU in the Birmingham Bowel? If so, you need to take a walk on the beach and get some perspective on where your life went wrong

I watched, and I was GRATEFUL.

I watched almost all of it. It’s football, who cares? Kansas coming back from 25 to lose in triple OT to Arkansas was fun. Not gonna see the great games unless you’re committed to them all. I’M COMMITTED!!!

I don't. Both on principle - I don't want to contribute to the viewership - and I too have many other things I'd rather watch and do.

Rewarding mediocrity with some stupid post-season game is fs. If I were in charge, any team under 9 wins wouldn't be bowl eligible and I'd go back to the non-corporate names, and then only have the Rose, Orange, Sugar, Fiesta, Cotton and then maybe like the Gator, Citrus, Holiday, Alamo and Peach. 10 bowls, 20 teams and that's fucking it. WFC about anything beyond that?
