why are good QBs shredding the Hawks with short passes?

What is the weakness there that wasn't there last year? (other than the Dallas game)

THe 456 yards they gave up is bad, but between Tom Landry Jones and Rapelisberger, the Steelers were 37/59. They only rushed nine times, not counting Rapelisberger. You're usually going to give up well over 300 yards if a team throws it that much.

The intermediate over the middle stuff where there's nobody within 5-15 yards is the big issue.

San Diego game 2 in 2014 with Antonio Gates and his 3 td's was the first time the TE really hurt them. Gronk in the Super Bowl killed them as well.

Now, any team with a quality pass catching TE can have a career day versus the Hawks D.

The aura of the Seahawks D is dead. Teams don't fear Sherman/LOB/ etc al. What is frustrating/perplexing is the sum of the parts adds up to much more than what the total is at this point. It's similar to the 2013 Hawks D who couldn't get off the field when it counted.

Is there any doubt if Hawks have to punt instead of Baldwin's catch and run for the game winning td Pittsburgh goes down the field and kicks the game winning fg.

This D is a enigma right now.

I chalked up Tom Brady'so performance somewhat to Sherman and Chancellor being hurt.

Thought the pass D was better as the game went on but not great. Also, pass rush couldn't get to the QB. I agree with what Roadie said in another post. The LOB guys are not as good this season and CB depth is poor.

No pressure on QB

Plus the way the LBs drop into coverage does not allow them to effectively break up passes and make quick tackles. They're not in good position.

This is coaching and strategy.

Take away Pitt's big plays and their average pass were all dinks and all open. It's always been the weakness of the USC/Seahawk PC defense. They're static and don't stunt and don't blitz. They started doing some in the 2nd half and created turnovers, but it looked like they'd never practiced it.

PC hasn't had to change his standard defensive game plan for three years. It's time to adjust.

Yup. Sure looked that way today, and PBurg saw it right away, and often.
