This is Ted Kennedy's legacy - the dems won't attempt to change immigration, will not work with the Repubs to do anything. The Republicans are fine with that also.

The border is another one of those issues where there really is a majority consensus on the issue. Most people want a secure border and some kind of orderly immigration process. We can quibble about the number of immigrants we allow in each year. But once again we don't get what we want.
Abortion is another issue where there is a majority consensus on keeping it legal but restricting it to the first 3 months. Almost seems like the parties want the issues and don't really want to pass any kind of majority consensus legislation.
