I've watched the live in 1977 performance about 100 times by now. Had to pick one. Not sure I really favor one over the other though. From my position of ignorance I'd say Felder's half seems more smooth and also more technical, while Walsh is more rocking. The difference works great for the progression of the song.
 
Felder is the technician, very clean tone, and a fabulous player overall. Joe’s tone has edge and grit, with a little swerve / sloppiness, which is exactly how I would explain Joe Walsh to someone unfamiliar with him. This has joined the fine collection of great songs that have been worn out through decades of play, and over-play, but at 5:26, I stand at attention, every tim…
The outro of clean Don and dirty Joe is about as good as it gets for me. I’ve been Team Joe since the James Gang, and my pops didn’t raise a quitter…
 
I worked with a guy who was a music aficionado. He loved Joe Walsh. When this song came, his kids were so well trained, they’d just stop talking.

This is exactly how I feel.
I love the big dick, sloppy, swagger of Walsh over technically gifted Felder, although both are amazing.
Plus Joe was a Don James fan.
