Which realignment scenario is better for UW?

UW goes to B1G and, while there are trash schools in the middle/bottom tiers, they are not going to compete with tOSU, USC if they're serious, ND, Michigan. UW will never go to the SEC, but same thing with probably 3-4 additional teams added in. But UW makes a lot more money for the AD to field teams that are not upper crust.

UW stays w/PAC and it reorgs with B12 leftovers after UT and OU leave and the conference doesn't bring as big of dollars so UW is playing catchup all the time, but it's a league that UW could entirely own year in and out, along with Oregon (assuming they would both have to agree to stay for this scenario to work).

So, money grab and you're also less likely to be competitive. Or, stay and win, but much less money and national presence, etc.

Take the money. This is a losing effort over time to try and prop up this conference. If you are gonna move, then take the money now and go play with the big boys.

I could see a scenario where the conferences split from the NCAA to form their own football governance structure, like IRA.

Let's face it, that this is just one of a myriad of issues going on in football right now, and the NCAA has proven repeatedly to be the worst thing for the sport.
 
Unless we get serious about NIL (we won't) a move to the B1G just involves us becoming a complete punching bag for big boy programs that gaf. That said, being a big fish in a turd pond of left over Pac-12/Big12 dreck is like fucking your sister - feels good for a second but followed up with a lifetim of regret.

I'd opt for B1G punching bag in the hopes that one day Jen and Karen are gone and we are serious about winning again. At least we would be in a conference where being a top tier program was possible, instead of at the little kid Thanksgiving table with the other paste eaters.

It's not always regret. Sometimes it's a really sweet, forbidden memory that makes you closer.

It is interesting that at this minute, Canzano is indexing on "Klavikof is kicking ass" on keeping the Pac together, and Iver is pushing chips on the Big12 signing 6 former Pac teams.

If rumors can be read as trends of truth - sounds like UW isn't playing this effectively.

I have no doubt out of misguided notions of loyalty and "doing things the right way" UW administration is doing its best to fuck this up.

Might be the opposite, if the Pac-12 looks to take TTech, Baylor, TCU, OK State, Kansas, and KSU and merge with the ACC.

All things being equal you (Oregon and UW) go to the BIG. But don’t go as a little bitch which is what the BIG are banking on.

I think a new Big 12 would be a rad league and if you win it you’re in the playoffs. Oregon, UW, Baylor, Okie St, Tech, Utah, and you still have a footprint in Texas for teen boys. The only Pac teams in playoffs talk have been UO, UW and Utah. Not SC. Baylor and Okie State have both been in the playoff conversation. That is not a complete wasters league.

Otherwise go to the BIG underfunded and be middling teams asking tOSU and SC for another piece of bread.

The SEC has already won the war. The BIG is massively overrated right now.

This new cobbled alliance is going to be very weak, everyone on the list is still going to be trying to get into Big 10 or SEC and would do so in a moments notice. UW and Oregon should just do it now if they are invited. If they are not invited, then gear up to get invited and be willing to drop the new alliance fast, because everyone else won’t give a fuck about leaving UW and Oregon on their own given the chance.

I'm no longer opposed to this. The more I think about the B1G and taking the money grab, I just do not have any faith that UW will invest appropriately to compete at the level of an Ohio State program. Oregon probably continues to try as long as Uncle Phil is around.

Creating a mashup of the PAC and Big 12 seems like it would be legitimate enough to keep a playoff spot, have a national tv deal, be competitive enough for recruiting, etc. Probably would need to add in a school or two in California, too.

It seems like the question is what would the extra $20 million or so per year that moving to the B1G be worth to UW and Oregon? Or maybe the B1G tells those two that they get a reduced cut and at that point the decision to be leaders of a reinvented PAC makes more financial sense, along with all the other perks.

The big 10 and sec are going to form their own governing organization and playoffs most likely. I don’t see them seeking to include all the ugly siblings that weren’t picked. Unless you’re in that conference you’re not invited. We better get ready to be the nevadas and central floridas of the world.

We’re not there yet but with Jen’s leadership it’s not out of the question that we could someday dominate division II.

I say go to the Big Ten and try to step the fuck up. With that said, I don't know if everyone needs to be wetting their pants about the Big Ten. Ohio State is a legit power and perennial playoff team and even they slipped up last year a bit. Michigan has basically been UW but worse the past 20 years, including the one weird CFP year, outside of when they had Barkley, Penn State is good, but not terrifying, then you have the Iowa, Michigan State and Wisconsins, who get the most they can out of themselves most years but just don't scare me.

Well you can sit around waiting for the B1G invite or get proactive and merge with the B12. Call it the BigPac, UO, UW, AZ, ASU, CU, Utah, Cal, WSU or OSU coin flip. Gives you 16 teams, East/West divisions with top 2 teams record wise meeting in Conference Championship. The pecking order football wise would be SEC, B1G, BigPac, ACC.
